This discussion is indeed very interesting.... definitely better than some of the personal bashing that I've seen here.

I was looking at the various trophies, silent auctions, raffles, catalog ads that have been sponsored or apid and I was wondering who would get around to asking the questions that chuckles, done that or mystere have asked.

I think that baldur is making the politically correct organizers statement to not offend a potential donor or donors.

I also wonder if the donations at NASS would continue if the WDA hired Reivision to videograph their show like they do in Germany.

GSDCA-WDA National Breed Warden Development (Ad Hoc): Gayle Kirkwood   Kirchenwald
GENERAL DIRECTOR John Henkel   Wilhendorf
GENERAL DIRECTOR  Michael Kempkes Wustenburgerland
These kennel's owners are all on the WDA board of directors and perhaps choose to advertise at and enter more of their dogs at their primary organization's show. No big deal; its their right to offer more support to the organization which they choose to volenteer to work for.

Speaking of Sieger Show... who is going to shoot the video this year of the "working" classes? I'd love to see footage of every dog, both male AND female this year. :D

Oops I should have specified... video of the "Performance Test", not video of pretty doggies trotting around and around.

Oh, Yvette, I knew you'd get it!!

I just looked at the list of trophy sponsors again.  I am still chuckling over the National Rifle Association sponsoring the First Place kennel trophy!

Regarding the NRA sponsorship of the 1st place Kennel group trophy.... I can speak for that since that sponsorship was procured by me.

I have long beleived that the goals and strengths of an organization like NRA would admirable serve the cause of all working dog and show dog fanciers since they can very effectively silence our common antagonist that is PETA/HSUS & the AR groups.

In fact in 2008 I got the NRA to help us destroy a Mandatory Spay & Neuter bill in Virginia in just 4 days by pointing out how it would affect their hunting dog groups.

Unfortunately by the time the NRA sponsorship was procured the only 1st place trophy left was the Kennel Group.... so I hope your humor in this regard is one of appreciation...'cos it did take some effort beleive me. What is more the NRA is planning on adding an item to the silent auction and the raffle also.

Regarding the rest of the issues in this topic... I think it is time to let Tim Burke and the BAC fulfill their role and trust them.....

I bet there's a number of people on here who belong to the NRA.  Might be a good idea to drop them a line or a phone call thanking them for sponsoring!  Preferably with a note & a check saying you're renewing BECAUSE they sponsored.

You know, the more I work on this show, the more I am reminded of an e-mail I received not too long ago.  It was about a HR person who gave up trying to organize a company Christmas Party.

The first complaint was from the atheist, they would not attend the affair unless it was renamed the Holiday Party
This of course upset the Christians who insisited a grace be said before dinner
The company officers wanted a really nice dinner with wine, the mothers against drunk drivers and the recovering alcoholics were completely opposed to serving alcohol at all due to the threat of injuring some one or falling off the wagon.
Then the vegans chimed in, by gosh they better not serve meat of any kind or they would stage a protest.
The president of the company's wife enjoyed wearing furs and after hearing about the vegans, told her husband that she would not accompany him for fear her employees would harm her or her coat.  Of course the president was not real happy about the situation and tried to calm the vegans down, they then called their lawyers claiming harassement.

After changing the menu six times, filing all the complaint paperwork with the corporate lawyer and  losing the deposit on the party venue, the HR director was commited to a small private clinic in order to restore her sanity and missed Christmas with her family.
