Nichole,
Actually that one went for scrap when the price was up last year.  I have a 69 and a 72 that look much better..LOL
And a couple of 4X4s from the 80s.   I drive the 69, a camper shell doesn't look too bad on it.  High performance 302 gets decent mileage when I keep my foot out of it.   Mostly I'm just funnin around.
I've had a Chevy van that was great back in my younger days, lived in it as I traveled around.
Also owned a voyager it was really nice.
Todays vans I don't know, so much crap.    If your looking for function go more towards a utility van rather than the mini's.
It might be worth your while to look into new mini vans, some dealers are almost giving them away.  Depends on where you look.
A ten year old van is just a few miles away from its first major problem, you have to figure replacing a higher monthly payment with upkeep costs.
Still, if you have money its a buyers market right now, shop til ya drop and you may get lucky and find a real bargain thats just what your looking for.
Moons.

I like my Expedition for dog hauling. I, too, have a dog who only fits in a 700, and while he hardly is ever crated in the car, you need to be able to put the crate in the car if you need to take it somewhere. That thing is like a storage garage on wheels. Not great gas mileage, but not THAT bad, and who cares if you don't drive it every single day? If you fold the second row of seats down, you could easily put 4 big crates in there, probably 2 700s and 2 500's, AT LEAST. The big square design, IMO is a lot better than a van, which is narrower.

I bought an X5 to replace the Expedition, but I decided to keep both of them; the X5 really isn't big enough.

I get three dogs in my Cherokee but with the back seat down I could fit five, cages not included....LOL
I like to let them watch the road and they lick my ear from time to time.   Indy trys to catch road signs through the window.
It does get really good mileage but the air doesn't work anymore...:)

P.S.
I do come with the dogs, or vice versa.

FWIW, here's an option for getting a good, inexpensive van:

"If you are willing to move up to a regular van- check out your state
vehicle auctions. I know several moms with large families (we are
talking 7+ kids each) who Swear by this- they go about every 3-4 years
and get the vans that are being outplaced by the jails - they are
industrial, and the passenger doors don't open from the inside- but
these moms look at that as a plus.  They pay between $1500.00 and 2K
for these vans - they tend to run great because the state keeps them
in good condition- they don't want to have a breakdown with a van full
of prisoners.  They are awesome to pull the seats out of, put in a
raised platform with eyebolts to hold crates and slide all your gear
underneath the platform. You could easily haul 4 newf-size crates in
them without passengers."

You can do a search for the appropriate site in your state, and here's a federal
site:

I've got an 08 Honda Odyssey Touring. Not cheap but the dogs and kids love the TV! LOL! And since I am directionally challenged as my husband tell me the Navigation gets us to shows and training. I think the dogs would love anything they can pile into as long as we are going somewhere fun and it involves a ball and treat. ;-)
