This one advises putting the removed tick in a jar marking date and location, just in case there is a disease issue later and the tick needs to be identified as to species:

Nothing like bonding with the hound by removing ticks and listening to them pop & crackle on the fire.

Grandma just put a drop of oil on the tick.
Tweezers and other devices can tear off the ticks head. Crush the body and release fluids.
I just use my fingers, then I burn the tick, I love to hear their little screams. Or cut him in half if its too windy.
Swab the site with alcohol if your worried , then just wash your hands.
I live right in the middle of Tickville, its everyday life around here.
I pull more out of myself than I do the dogs.
You can use products such as frontline, and your dogs can be tested once in a while for any tick born disease's.
Its not such a big deal for me.

The deer ticks are sometimes better pulled out with tweezers, they dig in deeper seems like.
The smallest ones here, we call them turkey ticks, you can't even hardly see. Loggers use their fuel or you can use bleach.
I've seen them get drunk on rubbing alcohol, then you've really got a mess. Nothing worst then a drunken tick !!
I really do pull more out of myself than the dogs.
I have had to treat one dog once in twenty years for a tick born disease, I have had shots for limes once also.
Thats why I love to burn them, payback !!

Yeah they are sorta ugly Lukas, but its interesting, my son has a microscope and we were looking at some of those tiny turkey ticks, they look like little sand crabs.
Anyway I start using the frontline this week.
And after a few days its safe enough for kids to play with the dog.
