Two Moons

by Two Moons on 18 March 2009 - 19:03

I know dogs respond to it differently, two of mine pay no attention to it and one goes nuts when she see's it.
Training would be key and done from the get go before bad habits arise.  I can see the need for specific training here.
I also still see complications as well.   But hey, I'm not gonna harp on it.
In time with practical use it will either prove worthy or not.
Shezam1,
Even low intensity lasers can cause damage to eyes.

Two Moons, it is being used all the time in some very sophisicated ways.  I won't get into the details here but many specialized K-9 units are using it very effectively.  As you know the range of the laser is very far at night and dogs are directed to search wooded areas and specific buildings from far distances.  Just another tool in the tool bag.

Thanks for all your inputs - BTW, reasonable cause, excessive force and such other issues have yet to evolve in my country, but I get your point Jim and will do some in-house brainstorming before deciding where it can be used. From all that has transpired it is certain that it is useful tool and that training is the key. Moons - the potential to cause harm even with toy lasers is evident from the fact that legislation against pointing them at aircraft on approach had to be incorporated even though it is more a matter of abundant caution.

Shezam1 what country are you from?  It's always interesting to communicate with people from other countries.

I've thought about it...

But the dog who likes the laser is really over the top crazy for it.   So I really don't think it would work for him.....

I think that it could work for some dogs, but not for him......

My female isn't interested in the laser so we use a toy for her send outs....
