Videos like this need to be shown more. The gsd world needs to see videos like this to show that there is more than just schutzhund out there in the form of working titles and training.
That little puppy worked longer and with more control on him than most sch3 gsds have. Notice there was no harness and very little to no drive building and the grip and entries were still good.
The GSD could have working qualities like that if we stop breeding gsds with our eyes closed and start selecting dogs that can do this type of work.

Now come on...nobody breeds with their eyes closed. You can't custom order puppy colors that way.

That's what's so sad about our so call working shepherds; is that some people will look at pigmentation, head/bone structure etc. before actually determining whether or not the male and female are worthy of breeding. Another thing; there a quit a bit of good bred dogs (pedigree wise) out there but it doesn't necessarely mean they are good as far as prey drive and temperament or that they are able to produce good working dogs.
It doesn't matter though; they still get bred and we still buy them.

ok guys take it easy this a typical Mali and that is how a Mali is from the day it is born and the only time Mlies slow down is
when they are dead. so with that said ,if you guys like this then get a Mali, you can not compare the two.also there are shepherds who can do that two under the right trainer.this is not just genetic it is also knowing how to put the right foundation and how to build the dog up to the point where you can put certain type and certain amount of pressure.i have a 12 year old Mali who is still quicker then lot of the 3or4 year old fast shepherds.but do i want all shepherds to be like that no.Malies have been bread like that for a long time and the breed has not been exploited ;ike the shepherd breed i love my mali and i also love my shepherds.do not just criticise the breed also criticise your own abilities as handlers and trainers onestly.there are more fucked up trainers and handlers then there are bad shepherds so to speak. have a nice one.

Held, are you saying that the dog in the video was only that nice because of the training? If so I would have to disagree.
The puppy in the video was a nice working prospect for biting sports regardless of breed. It should not matter that the dog was a malinois, gsds should show the same abilities at that age. But they rarely do.
If people do not like that type of dog, a working dog, then maybe they should look at a different breed, like a pooble, or a golden retriever.
As for your comment about malinois only having one speed, I would have to disagree there also. I have two malinois, both are house dogs. All my malinois friends dogs are also house dogs. The whole notion that malinois do not calm down is a total farse. Are there some that do not calm down, I would think so but he vast majority do calm down.
In the big picture working line gsd breeders need to incorperate different sports into their breeding programs. Schutzhund should not be a breeders only tool for evaluating breeding stock.

Nice puppy ............ what I wouldn't give to have the energy to train one and the patients to live with it. .......... but sadly ........ that ship has sailed.

I'm a member of a newly formed club in South Florida called " Tropical Ring Club, Broward County, Florida". There's a total of nine dogs currently in the club that have qualified to begin training for Brevet and Ring I. Currently one member has a PH2 Malonois from Belgium. Twenty dogs have showed up for evaluation where only nine were determined to have the drives and nerves to begin training.
There are seven Malonois, one Dutch Shepherd and one German Shepherd (mine). I took three of my shepherds were one is gun shy the other one does not have the nerves to handle the stress and correction to do Ring. These two shepherds are good Shutzhund dogs but not mentally strong to compete in Ring.
I believe if you breed a shepherd with the desired drives and temperament we should all be aiming for, provided we imprint the puppy and young dog correctly early on, we too should be able to produce good, honest working dogs. All breeds have good, bad and so so dogs. Its up to us to have the discipline in breeding for desired traits and call it for what it is. There is no gray area here. Its either good or it is not.
