Jenni you can always have him tattooed on the inner thigh.  You can see the tattoo there, even on black skin.
The SV requires the tattoo, regardless of what WDA or USA requires.

There is a company that will convert the digital xrays for submission to the SV. They have a 1/2 page ad in some of the "Schutzhund USA" issues.

Interestingly enough the breed survey that I just got back from Germany, there is a spot in there for a microchip number.  So it is either in the works of being accepted, or is being accepted.

I did hear that they were going to be accepting microchips....

Thanks, Sue. I need to find someone to do this, I guess. Too bad that means I need to redo the xrays, too. I wonder how they look at 5...

Kathy,  I had heard they were considering accepting microchips, last I heard not yet.  Maybe it's been changed by now.  That would be a good thing.

All mine are microchipped, tattooed, and DNA's anyway.  The more positive identification I have on them the better I feel.

Thanks for ALL the information- so much more than I expected! Based on the photos of the dog I can't see the ear tatoo and the pigment of the dog is not super dark. I tried to find the hip rating on the SV website with no success. The GSD pedigree only shows the AKC number and when I put in the dog's name it comes up with no results. I also tried the kennel name. Could I be doing something wrong? I forgot to mention that the dog (mother of the pup I'm interested in) does have a breed survey that was done here in the US. According to the copy of the report the survey (form is written in both German and English) was done at an all breeds show and she got a rating of SG1. I am a little confused about this and am hoping someone can shed some light on it for me. There is a DN number on the report too. What does that mean? Thanks for any help you can give me!

What is the dog's name?  BTW

When you did a kennel search on the SV website did you include the vom or von?

For example if the kennel name is vom Dolderbrunnen, leave off the vom when searching the kennel and only enter Dolderbrunnen.

Sometimes you have to do a little "creative" searching as well.

She may have an ear tattoo still..  my girls almost never shows up in photographs, it's not really dark enough.  But the vet CAN and did verify it for her verification form.  You have to really look for it in person, but it is there and readable.

I just had two of my dogs rated by the SV through WDA with microchips not tattoo. No problem the bWDA will cerify your 4 generation AKC pedigree with a chip or Tattoo then send it to the SV.
