Shelley,
I hear you about the "frugal" aka cheap husband. If it cannot be built or repaired with baling twine, duct tape and job site leftovers that have been donated to him (as opposed to put into a dumpster), then it does not get done.
I love your hardwood floors. Also it appears that your cabinets open and close? If you try to open some of mine, the door falls to the floor!
Oh well, mine is a good guy who tolerates and supports me and all my pets and he never says, "What? You brought home another dog!"

It's a little prison cell but at least it's clean and sans crack pipe! I'd love to gut it and start over but.... At least I got "real" windows this year and nixed the loover kind that let in the hot and cold.

I hate you! Look at all that counter space. The cat would get punted accross the room though.

Wow, I haven't seen a built-in ironing board cabinet in years. Always wanted one.
Hmmm... My cabinet doors OPEN, but close? sometimes. I am forever reattaching the front of the drawers and screwing hinges back on. I don't think harvest gold is ever going to come back in style. I sure wish he hadn't GLUED the stuff to the walls. I did paint the dark cabinets in the bathroom but the paint won't stay on. Apparently they have been oiled in the past and I didn't get it all off. I like modern decor, not so into dark and ornate. The formica countertop was apparently scoured for 30 years, now so porous anything you set on it goes right in, has to be scrubbed out with bleach.
No, that's not hardwood flooring. Its factory-second pergo, chipping between the pieces after only 3 years. There's a bulls eye on that electric stove. I miss cooking with gas. No way to get the burnt on stuff off the glass surface at the edges of the burner rings. I've tried everything I can find.
Do any self-cleaning ovens really clean?
Wait till you see the pix of the other side of the room. Cabinets courtesy of the Agere surplus sale... industrial particle board laminated with pink-ish tan formica. Lovely with the harvest gold. NOT.
Next time I'll give you guys a real belly laugh. I'll post pix of our nightmare bathroom. I'm pretty sure my husband is color blind. Nobody could do what he does otherwise... or could they?
;-O
The day I found Gabi on my sink was the day she learned to fly.
What a nice change for an OT thread. Way nicer than a lot of the stuff on this board lately. Yes? :-D
