She is very cute and looks 100% GSD to me. You did really well getting her.
Save the money and use it for something more enjoyable.
You can take a compromise position and send the $35 to AKC,and get her ILP#.
That would be way more fun .

She looks like MOST of the GSD's bred in my area.
Don't bother to spend the money. She's your Baby.
Nothing else matters.

I suggest the money would be better spent donated to your local GSD rescue group.
As for your girl, she wouldn't be a sore thumb sticking out of a line up of registered, pedigree supplied, DNA -sire and -dam confirmed German Shepherd Dogs...if you didn't mention that she was a rescue whose background was unknown to you, no one would have any reason to think that you didn't have registration papers on her. She's cute and compact, and not outrageously small for the breed; my German herding line bitch's 'fighting weight' back when she was young and being worked was 65-68#; now that she's a 13 year old retiree, she still only comes in at 70#, and I'm really glad of it when it comes time to help her up into the truck or onto the grooming table, etc.

That's a gsd. I don't see anything else there at all.
I know several people who have paid good money for that DNA breakdown.. From what I have seen (7 tests) that putfit is obsessed with dobies because EACH dog is supposedly part-dobie...including the two purebred Lhapsa Apsos and the Chinese Crested!!
The last one I saw was a dog that I recognized as part Basenji from 100 yards. It was obvious, once it was pointed out to me, so was the Saluki tail. What was NOT there was the 50% Doberman the test claimed. LOL
Use that $120 to buy that wonderful bitch nice, fresh organically raised beefalo. :-)

I dunno, I think it's still fun. I only paid for the $50 cheek swab version for my 13 yr old mix. I've had him his whole life and no, it doesn't change what I think about him, but it was really fun to splurge on this. But I'm not too worried about if the results are absolutely correct or not.
I would suggest that whatever one you try, if you suspect certain breeds make SURE they are listed in the dogs that the test can supposedly identify. If they are not, the test will pick the "next best thing" instead and that will be less accurate. If siberian husky wasn't on the list for the one I ordered, I wouldn't have bothered! And he did come back up to 10% that breed.
I have seen a few reviews from people who sent in a swab from their purebred dog (that was on the list) and it came back accurate, so they went ahead and tested their mix.
If you can afford it, I say "go for it" just for the fun of it. Honestly, I would have regretted not trying out it if my old boy passed before I decided to do it. Your girl looks all gsd to me also.

Thanks everyone for all your compliments on her! Not a bad looking dog for $52 ($40 of which was a spay deposit and $12 of which was a licensing fee- basically she was free), huh? Not a bad acting dog either. She passed her CGC and she also passed her temperament test. Thanks again to Yuba Sutter Animal Services. I guess it would be too much to ask to find another one like her at the pound... I certainly hope good dogs aren't thrown away often.

So no one cares that it's total bullshit? Spend your money then, I guess.
THERE IS NO TEST FOR BREEDS; ONLY THE PRESENCE OF SPECIFIC DOGS. I had to try one last time.

I didn't say I was definately going to do it... I know it wouldn't "prove" anything.

by Jenni78 on 28 February 2009 - 17:02
I didn't just mean you. But why would you bother if you know it's a scam? I just don't get it. The only way it could be a tiny bit accurate is if your dog happens to be related to one of the dogs whose DNA they have on file. That's it.

While it should be too much to ask for, sadly that's not the case. There's hundreds of them like her out there in shelters and rescues, unfortunately.
