Getting a young puppy use to the leash - Page 2

My latest was a ball of fun, first she would take hold of the lead and run ahead then run behind and as soon as she felt any tension she just threw a wobbly, first leaping in the air then did a death roll just like a crocodile by the time she picked herself up of the grass and saw me laughing she jumped all over me and that was the end of her first on lead lesson. She soon got the idea of wearing a lead but the one thing I never ever do is drag a puppy on a lead, alway gentle and short sessions and another person in front is the best way.

Venzosmom here is a pic for you.   We had three in the litter, but one male did not make it. The male is on the left, female is on the right. They're 6 and 1/2 weeks now. I was making a strange noise to get them to look at the camera......I got the look response I expected.....they looked at me like I was an idiot lol. These pups are full of energy though, very friendly temperaments, and for Huskies they have tons of prey drive....and a heck of a grip on the rags.  Future Schutzhund dogs maybe? lol ok maybe not because Huskies also smack the prey item if they can.  That's one thing they are known for is smacking things with their paws, I guess instinct to kill the prey?

Put slip leashes on them ( the really thin light weight kind your vet usually has)  and tie them so that they don't tighten around the neck and let them drag the leash around.  The other puppies in the litter will pull at the leashes and tug and play with them.  They all teach each other to accept tention and guidance from the leash!
