Well good for you Langhaar, but we have indoor plumbing and I allow my children to use it when they feel the need.

And of course you don't have these kinds of "problems", you're special and have the power to exercise dominion over the lower intestines of beasts. It's almost Biblical.

I don't have your otherworldly talents, I just open my home to foster GS rescue dogs and try to fix the little issues that caused them to be abandoned, so they can find new homes.

Langhaar I did the same with my son and potty training.   He was encouraged to go to the bathroom upon waking up, before lunch, before nap, after nap, before going on a car ride, after getting back, etc, etc.  Scheduled bathroom breaks that allowed imprinting of idea of what the potty was for and cut down on accidents to set back progress.

He basically trained himself with those tools.

Now, back to the dogs.  My girl at home usually has run of her yard and so it's not an issue but this past weekend I took her on a trip where she had to be a 'house dog' for 4 days.  For the first day I took her out when we woke up, about an hour after her meals and before bed.  By the second day she'd learned to 'hold it' until we went out and the one time she absolutely HAD to go in the middle of the night, she gave her crate door a whap and out we went.

No accidents even though she's more crate trained then house trained.

Again, giving her the tools and chance to avoid accidents and she picked up what was natural.  Going outside when she was given the oppertunity.
