Xeph

I was disappointed in the GSD bitch when I saw her move :-(  No front....

Who was she, Xeph? I can't get Westminister here. Last year, I had to wait about a month before it was shown on TV. This year, with a different cable provider, I'm not sure if I'll be able to see it at all.

CH. Alkarah Dry Martini at Beowulf, from Alkarah GSD in NJ.

I don't think she showed at her best last night, but I do think she's lovely.

I agree! Very nice to see an Am. lines that's not posed with its right hock flat on the ground. She reminds me a lot of my bitch's dam, who is also a Dallas daughter.

Here's some pics from their website: http://www.alkarah.com/Extended%20Family%20page%203.htm

Edited to add: okay, watched the video. I am amazed...only THREE dogs? And FOUR entries didn't show? I smell some politics here...hmmm! Either that, or maybe some serious bad weather kept the entries from showing. (There's been some bad ice storms, and as a matter of fact, that's exactly the sort of weather we're having today...)

The dog that took BOS is a Jim v. Fiemereck grandson, out of Darby Dan's Sampson! (Amari's Bandit of Broad Creek).

I was not surprised the blanket-back black and tan (Amber's Chanel No.5 ) did not place. She was very spooky: notice how her tail was tucked while the judge was doing the hands-on exam.

Anyone else think Alkarah's Dry Martini is a little cowhocked? Personally, I thought Amari's Bandit had better movement.

I'm amazed to see not a SINGLE one of the dogs walked on its hocks!  Maybe there's a glimmer of hope for the Am. showlines yet!

And check the Alkarah site: they had a dog working at Ground Zero, another is a police patrol dog, and some of their progeny are doing obedience, agility, etc. Unfortunately, the performance sports still seem to be only for dogs that can't make it in the conformation ring...

Here's the "Special Merit" page, which shows the SAR and patrol dogs, and the dogs competing in areas other than the conformation:

Can someone let me know when the swimsuit and talent competition starts? In the meantime I have to do a 1 mile track and then do bitework tonite.

by TessJ10 on 10 February 2009 - 20:02

Don't worry about the swimsuit and talent - you wouldn't be qualified to compete in either.

(ETA the wink - it didn't come through first time)

Well at least not the talent but the bathing suit....yes

by TessJ10 on 11 February 2009 - 02:02

LOL!  Yeah, baby, show 'em how it's done!

Very funny, GSDFLORIDA!

I don't know...I think getting into that bathing suit is a talent all in itself.

I'm cheering on the old boy...the Sussex Spaniel.  At least he's a different color so he should stand out.

It looks like we're all posting during the Toy group LMAO!
