What is this serious???? just don`t leave the food on that table! Or put youre dog somewhere he can`t reach the table while youre eating or while there is food on it, a moustrap for a dog what if the thing closes and is stuck on youre dogs mouth! Then you got a screaming dog and you can remove the thing and then don`t be surprised if he might snap at you because it must hurt!
Mousetraps were designed to kill mice not to correct a dog, so why would you even try.

pientje - i never once caught a dog or a cat in any traps. as i stated, it was for the noise effect.

That it didn`t happen to you doesn`t mean it can`t happen! And doesn`t even matter if it can or can`t the idee alone that it crosses youre mind?? I really can`t understand that you would even wanne try it out and take that risk. I really never heard of it here. i mean putting nasty tasts on the food ok, and i don`t know but i think youre not eating all day long so just put the dog away in the hallway yard bench whatever when you are eating, i don`t see the problem.

tape a little electric tape on one part of the trap so as to not allow the sharp edge to cut the dog.

gee thanks Pientje, wish I had thought of that, just don't leave food out, wow, you really are amazing, must be one of them master trainers.........Guys, do ya think Pientje will also have a problem with the rusty steel jaw bear trap I use for when the dogs are reaaaaaaaaaaaly bad ??? Probably thinks those of us who use e-collars are in line with the devil too.

I have actually seen mousetraps sold to keep pets off the furniture. The mouse trap was altered to have a large piece of plastic over the strike bar so it wouldn't harm the dog or cat, but make a startling sound. I can't remember who made it, but they were humane and made for just that. I'm sure you could find them on Ebay. But, Don's idea is hysterical.

I tell people to put one sheet of newspaper over the upside down mouse trap. It jumps and makes a loud noise!
