As has previously been stated, the fact that one's,"top-notch" dog produces a "FAULT", is not readily admitted to. Even though, like it or not, the dilute color is indeed a "reality" of the German Shepherd dog!

well, I know the people who have liver puppies out of a highly shown/titled/top show producing male do not want anyone knowing they have had liver puppies born at their kennel, and especially not out of their prized Ursus son. so I doubt if Ursus did produce a liver or blue, that the people who owned him or bred to him would admit to it.
All I am saying is this, if Ursus is indeed a carrier (I am not saying for a fact he is), and everyone is linebreeding soo heavily on him, then we may possibly be fixing to see a surge is liver puppies being produced from these breedings.
another question. Why is it soo offensive to suggest that one of these "golden" dogs produces a dilute color?

Its taboo.!!! =less $$$$$$$$$$$

it seems like it is more acceptable for a dog to produce a puppy with megaesophagus, panus, or epilepsy than for a dog to produce a "HEALTHY" puppy who just happened to be born the wrong color.
we've already had it confirmed Ursus produced quite a few females with faded pigment, why is this any better than a puppy that is a dilute?
I don't know. maybe my priorities are messed up. but I am much more concerned about a puppies health and future life than that it was born the wrong color.

Me too .The color does not make or break the dog.Go figure what goes threw peoples minds.I would much rather have a dog with a color flaw then a dog with a list as long as my arm of health problems.

Okay, I was right. According to http://www.geocities.com/sahiela2/DiluteCarriers.html, Ero von Batu is a carrier of the liver gene. He is the grandsire of Larus's mom, Jitta von Batu. So, the liver gene came from the dam's side, not from Ursus.

These are my babies, 11 days old. I am not looking to get insulted, or slammed for posting them either. As I have said in previous posts, they 'ARE' a German Shepherd Reality. They are nice plump, healthy babies, born from perfectly sound German Shepherds with decent pedigrees. The Solid Back female on the left is just as black as black can be, not a white hair to be found on her anywhere. So to say the blue dilute, dilutes the dogs, I have found to be "untrue", at least in my dogs. I have not in the many years I have had German Shepherds, ever been confronted with ANY Genetic defect, only the color "flaw".
I am going to keep one of these pups and do my damndest, to get a SchH title on it. I will have to wait and see who will be most likely to succeed, male or female. Since I am only on my first bout with working a dog (Duke), I have my work cut out for me, so everybit of training info put on this board will be utilized to the fullest.
And, putting my pups out there, for all the world to critisize, pushes me more to achieve my goal.SchH 3, for a Blue Shepherd. Any one know if this has ever been done?

I had blues once. I gave the blue one to a Friend , but had the dog to be present at seminars just so everyone could see what a blue looks like.
