My pups just started their fifth week of life this past Saturaday.
I have bought Fort Dodge Duramune- MAx PV vaccine and plan to give it this Friday, the end of the fifth week.
I believe my pups all got some colostrum, so what I fear is likely not now, but that unknown one to two weeks of window of vulnerability coming up soon. I have to assume that there is parvo virus on the dam's fur etc.
I think the problem with giving MLV parvo too early (but not before end of week four in any case) is that one cannot give another shot within two weeks. If maternal antibody diminishes by early week six, then giving vaccine at end of week five would allow two (rather than just one) weeks of vulnerability.
The issue is trying to time the first shot so that the window of vulnerability is minimized, to one week .
I read that the chance a modern high titer low passage MLV overcoming maternal antibody is already rather high at end of week five, at least 50%. Pups antibodies will develop within 7 days of giving shot if the vaccine does overcome maternal antibodies.

Thanks for the hints on Tamiflu. Does one need a prescription?
Thanks for the hints on NeoPar.
I visited the website for Neopar. Just google and found Neotech. Under Titer Comparison, it is stated that Fort Dodge Duramune Max PV has under 16,000 units per dose whereas NeoPar has over 3 million. But the data is for year 2000.
I called Fort Dodge, it can only say that the Duramune PV is a "High Titer Low passage" vaccine. May be by 2008, it has become a high Titer vaccine. FYI
