I started mine at 9 months but every dog is different. Don't know this guy or his dog, not gonna judge.

Sorry, he is actually 8 months and two weeks now... He weighs in at 70lbs yesterday.. he is absolutely brilliant in his temperament, sometimes a bit too smart... He knows all the proper obedient commands in german... his obedience is fantastic but at times, during training, he gets disobedient and decides that it is play time on his own and acts like a fool... he will run from me and wait for me to chase him, clearly as a game... I do not give chase ever, so he comes back to me and about a foot from me, he waits for my move... Till this point we have done the systematic approach for training with treats, praise, and toys... he is past the pinch collar as now the correction has to be real hard for him to respond, which I'm not a fan of... he is in training for schutzhund and personal protection so needless to say he is doing bite work as training... In addition to all, and most importantly, he is apart of my family thus being a very loved family member... He stays inside the house in his kennel... He has been thoroughly socialized, going throughout the streets of Manhattan NY many times during a busy weekday and not being phased or jumpy by all of the activity and different people he has crossed paths with... His trainers, two persons, are: one a successful ring sport trainer/ competitor of many years and two a successful schutzhund trainer/ competitor of many years... The ring sport guy wanted to start him on the e-collar at 4months of age, which I clearly didn't, and the schutzhund trainer hadn't even recommended it up until I brought it up last week... it is time for him... he is very mature, bright, and careless... I love him very much, so when and if he is off leash, whether during training, and or he just gets away, he needs to know, that no means no and come here means come here... and to stop barking means to stop... I don't want him to get hurt and or to hurt someone or something else ( not that he is aggressive because he is not aggressive at all, just very playful) I have felt the stimulation of the e-collar, as i tested on my arm and I understand the feeling of its vibrations at different levels so I am for using it at this age... Thank you all for you inputs....

I called Tri-Tronics to place the order on the Pro 500 G2... the rep suggested the Field 90 as he stated the Pro 500 is catered more towrds dog trainers who will be using with various dogs as the Pro 500 has 18 different levels of stimulation and apparently I wouldnt need that many different variations.... the six levels is more than enough with the Field 90... and to booth i remember above reading deathrow dogpack's post praising the field 90 so I placed the order... not to mention saving me over $100.00... thanks for your inputs...

Four months! Good for you for not going along with that one! Either way, can't go wrong with tritronics, worth the extra $ by far. Make sure your trainer is very experienced with them, they can be awesome training tools in the right hands.
