I myself am a fan of hard, high drive dogs but for competition, the inexperienced handler might find this type of dog too difficult to reign in. Also trainers get sucked into thinking these type of dogs do better with high agitation. IMHO these dogs need calm handling and do better with passive type helper style. I've seen better results from them using minimal compulsion and conflict methods otherwise dogs from these lines easily end up hectic. The good side is they bring immense intensity and power when you get their training right.

In my experience, I can agree with that observation, Bancroft.  I'm not a very animated handler, and this has been exactly the type of dog for me.  My 15 month old boy is Hutch van Tiekerhook, a son of Max and Quick.  If it weren't for this dog, I probably would have gotten out of the german shepherd breed, or be breeding crosses.  I've had to promise another Max offspring to my wife, who really needs a hard dog for her training style, without any sacrifice of handler attentiveness.

Koos said they may be breeding Max, but they are for sure breeding two daughters to a top stud in Germany....So I'll check more into that and see who to who.

Hello Vikram,

You seemed to have researched quite a bit on certain bloodlines from previous posts yet you do surprised me with your questioning on certain things that are so obvious!?!

If you had googled for Hutch van Tiekerhook, you will find the link which will tell you all you need to know about its pedigree and more.

As regards to uploading pictures, you could have searched the message board to see if ever this was asked and answered.

For your ease I have provided with this link: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/134165.html#134209

Just an advice.

Cheers.

Is it me, or does Max Tiekerhook have a small muzzle-albeit somewhat feminine?  Thats the only negative I can cite, and I also hear they are on the smaller side?

The only Tiekerhook Pup i saw watsa very nice pup ...6-7 months and showing alot of drive and in protection work. A real Nice dog.
