I would recommend Spartanville or Vom Banach. Both of these have top notch dogs and are ethical breeders. Maybe they do work their dogs has anyone asked them? Both of their main studs are proven Puck has a very low ZW and Aron seems to be producing very well .I do know this they are honest and straight to deal with and are experienced breeders.

I know for a fact Spartanville, v. Banach (remember Boban v.d. Grauen Monstab saga) and Altostland do NOT work their dogs and have not been breeding for 20 yrs either. Like I said I don't know if Hena-C work their dogs. And who could forget about the ordeal of the Alstostland dogs http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/196636.html#197279 ?

They all buy titled dogs and sell stud fees and puppies.

kczaja well if shes been in business for twenty years she must be doing something right or she would not have been in business that long . she may not have what you like but someone must have liked something about them.as your so close to her and know what you doing you could have easily put her out of business ya think !

In my opinion (for what it's worth), I would always recommend buying a puppy from a breeder who carefully selects a sire and a dam for what they can contribute to the breed, not only for looks but for proven working temperament, too. One kennel that I am very impressed with is Troy Richard of Sudhafen., http://www.sudhafen.com/. His dogs are titled and HOT, which anyone who has ever actually worked their DDR Shepherd knows is no small task. I also think that sometimes the small hobby breeder is generally trying hard to improve the breed and sometimes has more of an interest in what they produce.

i have a lot of that kennels pedigree in my dogs.he does have nice dogs.i find sometimes some are to much for the average owner ,they need to be careful of what they ask for.as they may get more then they can handle.

I would have to agree that Vom Banach and Spartenville would be the best choices.
Vom Banach has some very nice dogs. She is a honest person to a fault. She know the DDR dogs very well. She can tell you all about the lines, both the good and the bad. She is very honest about her dogs. She is a very honest and open person. She will answer all the questions you have. I dont not have a puppy from her kennel, but have spoken to her on the phone, email and also met her in person. I have met her stud dog Aron personally. He is a very nice confident dog. I have met one of his pups. The puppy that I have meet is really nice. He is a very confident high drive dog. I also like the look of her other DDR male, Walko. He is a nice black sable....I love the black sables.
Spartenville is also another nice kennel. Connie has a very nice stud dog named Puck. She is also seems to be an honest person. She is very straight forward and true. She will tell you about the dogs both the strenghts and their weekenesses. She know the DDR dogs very well and has been breeding them for a long time.
One other person you may want to contact is Becky at vom Holtzberg German Shpeherds. She has nice dogs also is a very easy person to talk to. She knows the DDR lines very well. Most of her puppies are DDR/Czech crosses.
I know someone who has a DDR/showline cross litter on the ground right now. They pups are about a week old. She has both parents on sight. The sire and the dam are very nice dogs. www.justk9s.com

I would go with Vombanach, Aron is an awesome male and produces excellent pups. IMO.
Good luck with your search and your new pup, whatever you chose.. DDR dogs are a breed of their own.
