I will not feed my girl 24 hours before mating.
Reason, you can't allow her to pee soon after mating. How soon? Some say 2 hours, but I always do extra than quoted necessary.
So I crate her for six hours after mating, to prevent one type of elimination. The other type has to be incidentally prevented as well, so no food for 24 hours.
Not a myth, not proven as a myth anyway.
