The dogs don't all pass the TSB, which is what I think you all are talking about. A very well known and very beautiful showline dog didn't pass several years ago and was pulled from the show. He had been thought to be in contention for VA1. There have been others too. Dogs have off days. But this is why the BSP should be held prior to the SS and the judges for the SS should have to watch both the BSP and the TSB.

You guys have to realize what some of these dogs are worth to ther breeders and judges who usually co-own the dog that has made it to that level. There is A LOT of money involved and MOST of the big boys WONT chance injury to that dog.For a dog of that caliber, its only the title that matters,NOT THE SCORE.With the title they can breed and properly campaign the dog.Now the politics after the dog is titled etc,WELL THATS A WHOLE NOTHER DISCUSSION.Now before anyone starts up,realize that i own 2 showlines and am merely telling it like it is.Now you have a nice day.

Shoot, i'm counting down the days until my male is old enough to be titled and then shown at a sieger show. The biggest differance is I expect him to trial and get HIGH scores and I never expect him to go VA. If I have to sacrifice his work for a show rating, Ill take my V (and my dignity) and go home! I look at it this way: Hit HARD or go HOME! Last year at NASS I saw dogs that made me SICK. But, there were some stand outs that did their work, did it cleanly and made my day a bit better. There is some talk that performance is now supposed to directly relate to placement in the ring. Ill sing the praises of whichever organization puts that into effect first!

several people have stated that the breeders don't want their top money dogs hurt. sounds like a load of BS to me
Are these dogs so fraile and poorly constructed that they can no longer perform the basic working tests laid down by the breed founder? they have to be "taken easy" on? what a shame JMO that this has had to take place. these are supposed to be the top athlete's in the dog world. the "CAN DO EVERYTHING" dog. How did it sink to this level, that these dogs have to be babied, so they don't break a nail and get a sprain or pulled muscle?
I have known top LGA and WUSV competitors that have been retired due to back injuries. but these were top class working dogs who still lived to be 11+ years old, and were still breeding clear up to their old age.
