Ditto what Silbersee says. Most hernias are NOT genetic and will cause very little problem. Most don't even need repair and unless one is really large and problematic, the time to do a repair may be when the dog is spayed or neutered. It really costs little and is of little consequence for most. There are many things to worry about when considering a litter, and this would be last, if considered at all.
