I think it is because the male can produce almost an endless amount of puppies with multiple bitches.  Since the male is capable of being bred to so many different females it is easy to see what a male produces.  Bitches are limited to how many puppies they can produce!  I have thought about this for a long time and think that so often people breed and choose great males but the female dosent get enough thought sometimes.

I agree Vickie we see that too much. Smart breeder will take under account, the female as well the male. You would want to research on the male since usually he might be by than proven producer, but you do want to know what your female can bring to a table. Females, are just as important as males, is jut is harder to observe what dose female produce because of the small amount of offsprings. Makes sense Vickie, I never though about it that way. Thanks.
