The only problem is that this particualr vet is the best vet in town. My previous vet almost killed my two toher dogs by giving them a worng anti-biotic. I could post a picture, but that would be very very disgusting! Basically she has red pimples on her back which give out a greenish-yellow discharge.

Ok just got back from the vet. He said that due her low immune system she developed eczema in the form of red, moist bumps which ooze. When she scratched it a wound developed and got a bacterial infection due to her immune system. He gave her anti- biotic injection for the bacterial infection and an anti-allergy for the eczema. He also gave me a multi vitamin and told me to give her omega 3. He said that eczema can sometimes develope in less than 24 hours! She will get anti-biotic injections for another 3 days. How can make her immune system better?

aristian,Deal with this immediate problem FIRST and then i would suggest you get a product called Revolution which is a once a month topical that you apply just around the shoulder blade neck area. This will kill the ticks, fleas and heartworm prevention as well as some kinds of worms. There are so many different advertisements on TV which you could more than likely get it.If you dont, then you risk lyme diesease etc so make an effort to get it no matter how.Whatever it takes you need something for this dog if you already know that your area has a problem.I would'nt worry so much about a show career when in fact there wont be a dog to show unless you treat this poor animal. You will have plenty a time to show once she is heeled and healthy.I do have a show quality male that has done good and now i cant even be bothered anymore with all that BS which is mostly politically motivated anyway.Get your girl back to health and everything else will follow.

Domenic nothing comes before her health not even her show career. We are doing all we can right now. She seems better today got an anit- biotic injection. Actually the bacteria has cause small pus filled holes to develop in her skin. Poor thing will have to get her back shaved 2morro. I just dont get how she got this infection. Its very serious! I cry every time i look at her, she is suffering a lot! Just when things got normal, she started to gain weight, coat was in perfect condition, she was happy and healthy this had to happen! I could post a picture but then again it would be very disgusting and offending. But can a bacterial infection like this really be life threating? I mean her appetite is normal, shes as active as she was before, she doesnt have fever, its only the skin. Another question how long does it take for a gsd to get its coat back after its been shaved?

Ok the vet said that she has Superficial Pyoderma. He gave her a lincomycin injection and i have to bathe her with a benzoyl peroxide shampoo.

It sounds like your vet has your dog on the right meds. and shampoo. The bugs are really bad this year, make sure you leave the shampoo to lather for 10 minutes before rinse, make sure you rinse thoroughly because the under coat can hold shampoo. Also benzoyl peroxide will bleach your clothes. Usually Fipronil is safe and does not cause skin irritation, but there is always one in the bunch. I have given Revolution (selamectin) this is a topical between the shoulder blades once a month, it kills adult fleas prevents flea eggs from hatching, prevents heartworm disease, treats and controls ear mite infestations, and control tick infestations, then if I am going to a tick infested region I back up with a Frontline application ( usually a week after Revolution application). You may have to give an oral antibiotic for a longer period to treat the pyoderma if symptons persist. I hope this helps, please don't think you did anything wrong, really you would not believe how many dogs are in the vet for the same thing. It is very good you got your dog in to the vet as soon as you did.

Hey just got back from the vet again. My girl is doing much better better and responded very well to the lincomycin aniti biotic injections. The puss is gone and only the scabs remain. Will go the vet for the last time tomorrow and from tomorrow onwards she will be given anti biotic tablets. The vet did cut a little bit of hair though. But that is not a concern. She is much much better now. Thankyou all for the supprt, advice and good wishes!

When my boy had the problem with the pus sacks and infection, it was folliculis. Infection of the hair follicles. Vet found it with some sort of light shinning it on his skin. Meds took care of it. We thought they were hot spots at first and so did they until another vet checked further. He's doing awesome now.
