Then again sometimes it doesn't matter what kind of pedigree the dog has,

if he is paired up with a terrible owner, that is abusive or just plain stupid,

the dog will be short changed, and won't show his full potential.......

Also, I like Abhay's idea, show them all that red ink!

Shame them into being good, .

I am new to the GSD world.  I don't really know what to look for in a pedigree and I'm ashamed to admitt to this but I look more at the dogs appearance.  I purchased a female GSD who is now 16 months old.  She was not the Black & Tan Rin-Tin-Tin I really prefere but came from working lines and I believed tested for the drive and nerve I needed.  I have been very pleased with her and purchased another female GSD pup from the same breeder.  They have the same dam but different sires.

Attached are their pedigree links.  I understand most pedigree's are not up to date, etc.  since I don't know who is the Best, etc.  I look at the titles, and OFA's.  Please tell me what I should be looking at.  Please tell me what you like best about my girl's pedigrees.  In the event I am able to finish them with titles making them worthy of breeding what lines would you recommend I breed them to?

I like a good dog with a good pedigree.

I think pedigree is VERY important in choosing a dog for breeding.  By looking at it you can see wich lines are involved and can determine if your dog is a good match to that dog.  If you do your research a pedigree can tell you a lot about health issue, working or temperament and of course conformation running in certain lines.

Of course I know very good dogs with poor pedigree and even no pedigree..would I use them...NO.  There is a lot of good dogs out there with good pedigrees why would we use one with a poor one??

I don't breed pedigree...of course the dog has to be good also.  No it doesn't mean your going to win ribbons...but it helps!!
