What a beautiful boy! I've been to Al's site a few times, and had looked at Champ, I just love his bone structure! Thanks Tina!

Lillybug, whats the difference in your eyes between a bi-color and black and red as you stated for Don?
Sadly the sable gene has taken over the DDR population, as well as they seem to become more of a darker sable with more greyish undercoat. Despite some other opinions I feel that color choice should be considered in breeding (besides all the other stuff).
Here is what I consider a true bi-color, Axel von der Gartenklause, litle bit over 5 months old in the pic, pure DDR, black and french mustard yellow, about 18 years ago. Sorry about the picture quality, its scanned from an old pic into the computer.
And yes, he was a monster....lol

I guess what I PERSONALLY define as a bi color, is a pure black dog, with only another color on its legs and belly, that doesn't give the appearance of a dog with a sadle. I gave an example of what I think is a true bi-color, and Kelly M. Shaw posted what I PERSONALLY think is a true bi-color.
I guess we all have our preferences, and I'm certainly not putting down Sadle dogs, or sables or any other color, but I was wondering if the DDR lines throw what I define as bi-color any more, and Kelly has showed me, that yes, the DDR blood still throws it.
Thanks all!

Thanks guy's. I no longer own her anymore, but am always on the look out for another bi-color as well. I feel that there are very few out there b/c of the dominant sable gene taking over. I know where to look but really don't want to pay an arm and leg for one either. Just waiting for the right one to come my way.

The dog shown here in the picture belongs to a friend of mine. He is a Czech import and he produces a lot of dark bicolors
This is a daughter of the male shown above

Champ is not a pure DDR line.
