My dogs are not off their feed but I have been hearing allot of that and from amny different brands. Allot of dogs barfing and allot throwing up, skin issues and such. I'm starting to wonder about widespread contamination is some product most foods use...maybe gluton? I feed grain free so don't worry about that. Hopefully you find out a cause Kari, nothing worse than wondering with no answers. I still have this bag of suspect Diamond sitting here but without the original packaging can't send it back to the company. From now on I keep the bags in the garbage tubs I store my food in.
I'm not a big fan of the RC. I checked their website and read labels, way to expensive for all the fillers they throw in. I just went back researching foods. Orijen is working out great so far but I will need to switch here and there to prevent allergies and nenefit from multiple protein bases. My short list concists of ...
Go Natural (chicken, fruit & veggies)
Orijen
Innove Adult (green bag)
Natural Balance (organic, AMP)
Timberwolf Organics (ocean blue)
Ziwipeak
Note I have one dog sensitive to flax, so many really good brands or formulas I had to nix because of the flax. That is also why only one or 2 formulas to a line or brand will work for me. I tried EVO a month ago and 2 dogs got the splats for weeks, the other is finishing up the bag with no problems. I swear in another couple years I'll be the dog food guru. I still feel RAW is best but budget and the family staring me down when I buy more gorceries for the dogs than us, has slowed me down some. =)

I feed my dogs twice a day. Shepherds have sensitive digestive systems, so sometimes feeding one big meal just makes the food sit in the stomach and it's harder for them to digest it.
I'd try breaking that one meal into two and see how it goes. You may also want to add a small dollop of yogurt in their food.

Thanks for the suggestion everyone, again I feed twice a day, but the morning it's raw meat and bones. they only get 2 cups at night, the amount is not the issue, I have been feeding this same diet for the last year and a half when I couldn't afford to feed K9 Kraving.
I have been very happy with RC and have been a huge advocate of the food. After the conversation that I had with them this morning, I am done with it. I am going to switch back to raw and feed a combination of K9 Kraving and chicken necks, backs etc.
Both dogs are super excited today running around like idiots, and drinking, so I am going to keep an eye on them and thankfully my vet is open unitl 8:00 tonight and from 7:30-4:00 tomorrow. My vet was even stumped that BOTH dogs had undigested food in their belly for near 24 hours, and said the likihood of them both having a blockage was possible but highly unlikely!
Thanks again!

I'm looking at their picture on the right and they look fine.

KariM,
Earlier you didn't mention the rib bone's, I would consider possible problem's there as well.

Can not blame this on the "sensitive digestive systems" for the gsd's. I have a Rottie and Gsd, my Rottie has a cast Iron stomach . Both dogs were on Royal and BOTH dogs were throwing it up . I now feed Eagle pack Holistic amd both dogs look better and have quit throwing up.

"I have been very happy with RC and have been a huge advocate of the food. After the conversation that I had with them this morning, I am done with it. "
Was it more than just them blaming it on you? Is their CS a nightmare, rude, press 3,1,5,3,2 and on and on or what?

Everyting was my fault, and she treated me like I was an idiot.
Are you sure they did not eat something like a dog bed and there is a blockage? Then she said ooh well if you feed raw bones there could be a splinter and there could be a blockage, I said WOW TWO dogs with the same BLOCKAGE after opening a new bag of food seriously??? And she said yes. I think I have a chance to win the lottery if this is the case.
However considering both dogs pooped just fine this morning and drank water, I don't think that is possible...
My dogs are not kept together during the day, they did not get into a poison and no they did not eat any dog beds! My vet even asked if there was maybe something wrong with the meat on the bones, but then I said well if that were the case, wouldn't the dog food have been digested since they eat bones in the morning, around 7:00 and they ate at 10:00 the previous night? She said yes that does seem odd....
The lady at RC did not offer any sympathies or anything. Just kept telling me that I needed to feed my dogs twice a day, and that I should not feed raw that is what the problem is. And then when I told her the puppies also had loose stool she questioned me "YOU FEED 5 month old PUPPIES ADULT FOOD"? I said yes and so does damn near every other large breed dog owner and vet recommendations as well.
I am still at work for now, they were fine when I left at 10:00.

Dogs often throw up undigested food when they have a virus or other infection....just like humans. If it continues, then worry and look hard for a cause. Since it seems to be isolated and one dog did it after the other, a strong possibility is a virus. I feed RC GSD 24 to 40 dogs and all are just fine.

by KariM on 23 August 2008 - 01:08
Virus I doubt since my puppies are not throwing up, my vet was questioning why the food was not digested after 23 hours.
I have been a huge advocate of RC, you can read my posts on that earlier. The way that RC treated me as if I was a moran is what makes me mad. OOh well, gotta go home now!
