just adding my 2.....Dog Sport should definitely be a part of the olympics! It is a team event, the last time I checked the HUMAN was a part of the TEAM! As in the equine events, it the same thing. Anyone who participates in dog sports knows the hard work and dedication that goes into it.
The behind the scenes work that goes into making any one of the dog sport teams A TEAM is totally what the olympics are about. I believe that a good dog-handler team has done thier work. The human part of that team better have damn well prepared physically and mentally along with that dog. Who is training that exercise program to get ready for a big event? walking, running, swimming that dog? I would think that dog and his human partner were TRAINING TOGETHER, and on that big day PERFORM TOGETHER.
As for the other political stuff...well where there are humans................

<<It's called the WUSV and it takes place every year. This year it will be here in the US in the Cinci area.>>
YEAH!!!
And no ping pong or ONE MILLION track & field events to wade through. :D
Although I personally LOVE the Summer Olympics. My favorite thing is seeing all the smaller countries win medals. Heard the Bulgarian National Anthem in a medal ceremony the other day, and I loved that they aired that.
I love the USA but I don't give a hoot how many medals we win; seeing the "Medal Tracker" list grow to including DOZENS of nations is fun. And I love the people who may not have medalled, but they either did their personal best or maybe just that they FINISHED and they have these huge grins on their faces. (Except for the poor Chinese who do great & still look terrified that it's not enough - a great showcase to the world, that). There's been some great sport and Sportsmanship displayed and I love it. One example: the reporters asking gymnast Shawn Johnson what she thought of the Chinese gymnasts being underage and she said: They're terrific gymnasts no matter what their age. They were the best today and so deserved to win.
Class act, that kid (and many, many others).
But Don Corleone is right and I'll be in Ohio in October. W00T!

Horses dont carry rabies so I guess they have different systems.
Yes horses do have passports but I am not aware of their restrictions. The only transmittable disease that I know of is African Horse Sickness.
Horses get shipped round the world for various events as the show jumpers have an international and european event every year. I do know in Spain to move a horse you have to apply for a movement order before you move the animal but what other countries do I havent got a clue.

Horses can indeed get rabies and, although rare, can transmit it like any other rabid animal.
Horses with an FEI passport and required veterinary certificates going to Sydney for the Olympics were required to undergo a 14-day quarantine once they arrived in the country.

<< Isn't regular volleyball enough, or is the bikinis?>>
I can't believe you even have to ask that question. LOL!!!
Hmmm, what to show on tv...what to show....over here we have equestrian dressage, with serious-faced riders covered from head to toe, wearing helmets, jackets, boots, GLOVES, while over here we have beautiful-bodied 6-foot tall women practically naked running and falling in the sand and also hugging and kissing each other....What to show, what to show.....
:D :D :D :D

I will admit I watch the beach volleyball for the hotties but, I found myself really getting into it when they were losing to the Belgium team and made a comeback. Those girls are good. Reminds me of the time my son was dating a girl that played volleyball in college, the old guys challanged them to a game of 3 on 3 and we got our butt's kicked three games in a row.

Ok, let's say for giggles Schutzhund (yes I know) would happen to be in the Olympics...who would be our commentator
Everyone has former athletes (Tim Daggett) that tells everyone the mistakes and bobbles
