I feed GS24 to 4 dogs. One female this is the only food she can and will eat, 6 different kibbles I tried with her either gave her diahrrea or she wouldn't eat, she does great of the GS 24.
I feed it dry, unless I have a dog that is antibioitics or some other medication that is messing with their eating. None of my dogs, from my young 50 lb bitch to my 105 lb male, have trouble with the size or shape of the kibble.
Great coats, great stools, nice teeth not a lot of cleaning needed.

Its a great dog food and it doesnt contain Vit K menadione, a chemical that Nutro Max has in theirs and so do most commericial foods read labels do not feed a dog food with this in it its not needed and I have the links and emails as to why if any one is interested.....RC with raw fed also, is the best we have here in Texas......its hard to find some of the ones you breeders reco in Northern or eastern Usa
Our trainer suggests to feed smaller amounts , two times a day and moiston the food, with hot water, just a tiny bit and mix up immediately like making gravy and feed to them Helps with the bloat prevention ,

I have used Royal Canin GSD Maxi 24 for six (6) years now and have excellent results as far as I can tell. Firm dark stools, good sheen to coats and eyes, soft skin, and teeth that stay relatively clean. There are other excellent kibbled foods out there, and Royal Canin is expensive as are many of those others. I have not endured problems caused by an allergic reaction to this food. I also have no problem with the dogs' ability to properly chew the food, save for the "gulper" who inhales anything that he eats.
The only other dog food that I use is Bil-Jac Large Breed Puppy for the youngsters until they are about twelve (12) weeks old and I switch them to Royal Canin Large Breed Puppy. The reason that I like the Bil-Jac? It is a good food, and the kibble is small and does not swell appreciably when soaked with water.
4Pack, you are correct that Royal Canin did have some products that were contaminated and recalled. These products were identified on the Royal Canin U.S.A. website, and I did copy and paste this on a posting of mine on this thread: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/92636.html#92658
I still use the GSD Maxi 24, and will continue to do so until I find a better food at a better price.

Bob-O

There are so many premimum dog foods out there from Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul (which I use)to Canidae which is as good as it gets...Listen to what the experienced people here have to say and then take that knowledge and decide what you want to do based on availability, cost and how it affects your dog...
I have always considered Bob O to be one of the the more knowledgeable people on here when it comes to feeding and how to feed our GSds...He gave me the foundation of knowledge I have and I expanded it with my own reserch which has taken me to over 100 different dog food sites with more information than time allows...There are so many threads on feeding and dog foods there is enough information here to write a book...I am not an expert on anything but I am a field biologist with over 30 yrs of experience, enough to know good information from bad...
RC GSD 24 dog food (most GSDs love the stuff) is a premium dog food that is expensive enough to take a look at some of the others out there for about the same price or less...Anyone wanting a list of quality premium dog foods need only ask...
Y'all have a great day now,
