The new Canidae ALS formula has less overall grain then the old formula (but different grains) and more meat. The first three ingredients are chicken meal, turkey meal and lamb meal. I haven't tried the new formula yet (our suppier is just now getting the smaller size bags in stock in the past week). Canidae moved part of its production to a Diamond facility to cut down on shipping from the west coast. With fuel costs and all dog food prices shooting up I appreciate a good business plan. Diamond had empty production space and Canidae needed production space more central in the US. This is commonly done is manufacturing. Canidae runs the show and sets the specs. Big brand food we eat every day is made in places other than main production plants. I'm not defending the new formula because I haven't tried it, but the formula for at least the ALS is better than the old formula -more meat, less grain. Based solely on ingredients dogfoodanalysis.com rates ALS as a 5-star food. I look forward to giving the new ALS formula an honest assessment. (the other formulas I think I'll pass on)

I found it...
All Lifestages. actually its chix, turkey, rice, rice then lamb. Still have the original question which is does rice x 2 actually move it up further on the list? just curious.
All Natural Ingredients Chicken Meal, Turkey Meal, Brown Rice, White Rice, Lamb Meal, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Herring Meal, Flax Seed, Sun Cured Alfalfa Meal, Sunflower Oil, Chicken, Lecithin, Monocalcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Linoleic Acid, Rosemary Extract, Sage Extract, Dried Enterococcus Faecium, Dried Lactobacillus Acidophilus Fermentation Product, Dried Aspergillus Oryzae Fermentation Extract, Dried Bacillus Subtilis Fermentation Extract, Inulin (from Chicory root), Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Fermentation Solubles, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Mixed Tocopherols (source of Vitamin E), Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Ascorbic Acid (source of Vitamin C), Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (source of B2), Beta Carotene, Calcium Pantothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Calcium Iodate, Folic Acid, D-Biotin, Sodium Selenite, Papaya, Vitamin B12 Supplement.
I don't neither like or dislike the food. Given a choice, I prefer total grain free in a kibble.
Also, according to the website, the new formula isn't released yet so any skin issues are probably not related to the food. (?) Good Luck :-)

OK - how stupid am I? (don't answer that!!) I thought I was at the new formula again... because of the millet, etc., but when I went back to copy/paste I clicked the link on the bottom of the "new formula page".
http://www.canidae.com/new-formulas.html
so yes... this time I clicked on the bag itself. Thank you for correcting this. I'm bad.
