a man in greece or one of the islands there just killed and decapitated his girlfriends dog and then stabbed and decapitated her. he (superficially) stabbed a cop and ran over 2 doctors who were riding a motorcycle (1 had multiple fractures and the other relatively unharmed). really ugly violent behavior happens everywhere, but it seems to happen so suddenly, no one seems able to react that well. don't know if its safe to go unarmed, but these attacks were very sudden and very violent. don't know if being armed would've helped in these cases....
