Thanks again Beepy, Shirley is going to get on here this evening and have a look.... Thelwell with GSD`s - what a lovely thought !!   I only wish i had "slow old dogs" - mine are all "fast old dogs - 9yrs and 13 yrs and think they are pups, and Shirley still has Kimbo at 14 yrs, whilst his hearing is a bit suspect his legs are not...    Mo

Anyone know of any good artists?  We could do Thelwell themed drawings of kids in the rings with their GSD's and then have them printed up and sold for the welfare fund.

First of all Beepy - I know a lass !!!!!   -  I am going to mail her and see if we can get her down, but I realise its a long way for her - its Lin of Fardogart, I know she was going to try, as it might be a little feature somewhere in this exciting book coming out.... dont know if anyone knows her talent in sketching also, so we may be lucky, how great would that be for an extra little thing..... also am copying this email I got from Shirley, so could you contact her Beepy on mascani@btinternet.com

Cheers   Mo

Sorry - got my morning head on... here is the copy of email for Beepy.

Hi Mum,

I can’t log in to the database at the moment as I have forgotten my username and password and I have changed e-mail address since I registered. I’ve e-mailed them to see if they can let me know my password!

Can you ask Beepy to e-mail me direct and I will send some details to him / her.

If you could explain that the date was chosen so that it didn’t clash with any big shows and on a Sunday so we have time to get ready on the Saturday but I will definitely try and make it during the hols next year!

Cheers,

Im just soo glad I'm not the only with a morning head!  Producing dippy eggs at 7am is not funny :-)

I will email Shirley and get some more info.

As for thinking of Lin - well done you, if we could make a few pennies for the welfare it would be fab.

Activities

You have the option of choosing up to 4 activities. No experience is necessary for any activity – have a go and find out more! On the other hand, if you do have experience we will try to help you develop your skills further and give you plenty of practice. Most activities will involve group training and one to one coaching. Very young participants may need more help from their adult who will be welcome to be in the ring with them if they need it. (At a recent YKC training day, I ended up on a lead pretending to be a dog for my youngest Sam (6) who was struggling to understand what the judge meant by walk in a straight line or do a triangle!)

Handling Coaching - Learn about handling your GSD in the breed show ring.

Handling Competition – Put the handling skills that you have learned or developed to the test.

Judging Coaching – Learn about being a judge in the breed ring including a chance to have a go at judging.

Obedience – How to teach your dog to do what you want it to!

Agility – Teach your dog to jump, weave and tackle obstacles. (Dogs taking part in this activity must be over 12 months old.)

Clear Round Competition – Have up to three goes to achieve a clear round on our agility course.

Safety

All of the instructors will do everything that they can to ensure that you have an enjoyable and safe day.

We ask that all participants bring with them a dog which is a size, strength and temperament that they can manage – puppies can take part as long as they are inoculated and instructors will make sure that puppies are given rest time during the activities.

All participants under the age of 17 must be accompanied all day by a responsible adult and no adult should be responsible for more than two participants under 12 years of age.

Comfort

Please bring with you picnic chairs and tables or blankets for when you are taking a break (and for grown ups to relax in!)

There are regular breaks planned through the day to allow the dogs and participants to rest and have a drink as well as to move from one activity to another.

Young Kennel Club

We are in contact with the Young Kennel Club to see if we can hold a YKC handling class on the day – if we can this will be updated on the website.

Are you a member of the YKC? It is worth considering, it costs £12 a year for anyone aged 6 to 24 and you get regular Newsletters. The YKC hold all sorts of activities. You also get a free 4 day pass to Crufts – which is worth a lot more than the membership fee!

Accomodation

If anyone is travelling a long distance and wants to stay over before or after the event feel free to contact me on mascani@btinternet.com or 01889 271878 or 07803 175333 and I will try and help you find what you are looking for.

Directions

Mount Farm is on Stowe Lane, Hixon, ST18 0NB. It is just at the edge of the village before you head towards Stowe-by-Chartley and there are black and white railings around the field by the road – a sign will be visible from the road.

GPS location.

by Penny on 04 August 2008 - 09:08

Nope - doesnt want to take any further info, I think I have made the database have a headache - the registration form wont download !!     It has also missed bits out regarding the directions, and the fact that catering has now been secured by way of a burger van with all the trimmings

best go on to the website or contact shirley or myself for the registration form.  Cheers   Mo
