4pack

by 4pack on 24 July 2008 - 19:07

I doubt it will be too soon. If we are lucky we will get a PDC in fall and worry about the 1's next year sometime. Being the slow maturing troll he is, I think 2.5 should be old enough to handle the 1's. All I have to worry about is control.

Nice dig btw.

Hey Mark,

Sounds like we'll be on the trial field in a few years again together! I have a GSD pup that is 7 months old that I'm preparing for PSA. So far so good...even Darryl really likes her! LOL

My pups obedience has been completely indusive so far.  I've actually been clicker training her since about 12 weeks and she does really well.

Good luck w/ your new pup, where is it coming from?

Gsdfan, You do have a great dog and awesome teamwork.  I have also seen that video clip before and was very impressed.

Tammy, I saw the pictures of your GSD pup and i really like her too.  As for Daryll liking her, i'll believe it when i see it.    She does look like a tough girl.  What lines is she out of?  My pup is comming from the Van de Biezenhoeve kennel in Belgium.  He  should arrive the second week of Aug.

With my new pup, i was planning on doing clicker training from the get go.  Obviously giving him time to adjust first though.  It doesnt make sense to me to hold off on motivational OB until they are over a year old.  That is so much time wasted IMO.  There are many things that i have learned from training Duke, my retired dog.  So i plan on changing up some of my training with this new guy.  I know puppies can be crap shoots but i've dont my research and think i have made the right choice.  We'll see how it goes while i keep my fingers crossed....

For those of you that do compete in PSA, what lines are you dogs out of?

I have trained a couple of Mals in PSA.  I do not start any OB until they are 10-12 months old.  A PSA dog has to be completely confident and strong spirited.  The control will come later, but the foundation in bitework is key.

I plan to title my Male GSD for his PSA1 this fall.  Here is a link to Ivan's page.  http://www.hamiltoncountyk9.com/Ivan.htm  He is out of Eick Von Der Berger Hochburg Sch3.  Ivan has strong prey and is starting to show good defense as well.

I really wanted to purchase a dog out of KNPV lines as they generally seem to be more serious that most Sch dogs.

I am now on the hunt to find a GSD female that will be strong enough for PSA.  If anyone has one for sale, let me know!

Mark, this is my female http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/557163.html .  Nieko's sire trains at our club, he's a Sch I and IMO a complete @ss, lol.  Seriously, Darryl really, really likes her although he'd never admit it online or if you asked him!

I definitely learned a lot from Jax as well.  I was actually planning to show him again in PSA at our Spring trial next year but it's too much of a headache to work him anymore...there is too much to have to fix.  That on top of working Nieko and my mal, Jayde...I have my hands full and am lucky because they are both GREAT! (okay maybe I'm a bit bias, lol)

Dang, we have a Mal pup flying in from Belgium the weekend of the 10th.  I wonder how they'd get along to ship together and save on flying expenses?

Tammy, you have a beautiful pup. Her eyes are very unique and she has a great expression. She looks very intense.  Love her pedigree too.  I would be all for saving money on shipping considering the shipping cost me almost as much as the pup itself.

4pack, your dogs look really good.  Love the sable one especialy.  Its my understanding that Too fast Enzo has some really nice progeny as well as Xato.  I'm also guessing your a fan of Jazzmine v. Ausland.

Mark, the shipping for our pup DOES cost more than the pup itself, LOL.
