Silbersee

You want to buy Paul's Baika? She is already 4 and a half years old, and I can't imagine that he will sell her right now. I will meet Paul (breeder of "von den schwarzen Seeperlen") in about 7 weeks in Aachen/Germany at the Sieger Show, where he is going to show Alex again. It surprises me that he wants to sell her. Here is Baika on his homepage: www.schwarzeseeperlen.de/baika.php If you click on the photos in the lower part, you can see a couple of short training videos.

You did not know about the hips in Bito's progeny? Well, Bito has a ZW of 114 (!!!!!), while his brother Buster's score is 92. That tells you right there what the problem is. But Alex von den schwarzen Seeperlen has a ZW of 84 and Baika 87. So, they came out of a well producing mother (Xickie). And in Alex' case, his father Lasco is known for producing health and longelivity. Lasco still bred a female at 12 years of age. If I did not live so far and can't take any risks, I would go to Lasco himself. Just look at his progeny here on the Pedigreedatabase, and they are certainly not complete. He is very popular in Germany, all known workingline kennels have used him. What he also brings, and I know that a lot of people here don't care, but I do - is conformation. Breeders like Fasanerie and Westfalenspross do care about that, hence the many V-rated dogs in his pedigree. Another beautiful Lasco-son is V-Uras von der schwarzen Nister. Kirschental had a nice litter by him.

Back to Bito and Buster: Both were shown at the Sieger Show under Messler and earned their V-ratings there. If you look at Buster's progeny, you will find some very nice structured dogs, with many displaying the topline which are common in showlines. As an example, look at her: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/342317.html and her brother Nash http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/342316.html . Beautiful with great rear angulation, aren't they? They are of interest to me since they also carry Bandit van Gogh (Arek Stoffelblick), just like my own female who I want to take to Alex von den schwarzen Seeperlen. Of course, Buster's best known son is V-Veus von Haus Veile who died an untimely death, unfortunately. He combines Buster with the old Busecker Schloss-lines and Mutz Pelztierfarm (Kim Werseufer - Cliff Moehnequelle). I thought I mention him since you asked about combinations for Bito blood. But you definitely want to stay away from linebreeding on him! I would not linebreed on Buster-Bito either. Too risky!

P.S. I forgot to mention Veus's sister Terrie, who is the mother of V-Amon vom Patriot (Falk von den Woelfen-son - Ahron Granit Rose-grandson), another great combination with Buster. www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/445210.html That might give you another idea.

Well, at the risk of sounding silly, but have you asked Paul about that? He is very, hmm, let's say, set in his ways. He does not even sell any female puppies because of his close-knit breeding program., unless they end up not turning out.

As to Baika, I do not like her being so closely linebred (2-3) on a female with a-noch zugelassen. This has been discussed in the past in Paul's GSD forum, if I remember correctly. But I am sure Paul knows what he is doing. Just another reason not to add anymore Bito or Buster to that. It would be a recipe for disaster.

Anyway, if you want to contact Paul, let me know if I can assist you.

Regards, Chris

Smart guy, I figured you were just into breeding as most are. You all have fun breeding but as well realize the outcome.I would like to track every gsd pup or not to the original breeder.

I am into breeding i just dont want to do it untill i fund out everything that i can about what  i co uld be breeding and the outcome of it. Even if i never breed my dogs that i initialy bought to breed(I had no idea of anything i know now) I willbe much more ready when i choose to be a breeder one day. I have about 15 more years before i retire from the military and when i do i will be ready for sure to become a breeder/trainer. For now I will try not to make to many mistakes

Smartguy - I think you are doing the right thing.  "Virtual" breeding still allows one to learn the blood lines and many other critical things while not producing litters that need to be placed.  I'd like to get into breeding one day, but after having taken a stab at it with showlines (and no knowledge of what I was doing)  I know now I've got a good decade or more of planning and prep to do before producing a pup.  Knowing what I know now, one must be careful with working lines, if you produce a litter that is not good for sport, it may still be more than the average owner can handle, then you’ve got real issues placing the pups. Where in VA are you located?    I found this thread very interesting and appreciate you starting it.  i also found Silbersee's contributions awesome.  Silbersee, i really liked your statement about breeding for working ability AND conformation.  Having started in showlines and found disappointment with what I saw there with working ability, I've moved to working lines, but see many dogs that are outstanding workers but leave much to be desired confirmation wise.  It sounds like you are breeding for the total package.   -Calvin

cledford, you need to coin that term "virtual breeding"  this could bring up a lot of interesting discussion, hopfully with out all the hub-bub.

im thinking (virtually here) of taking  a Troll vom Haus Milinda grandson, to an Olex de Valsory granddaughter ,both off the fathers sides.
i know the male reproduces himself,  just waiting to see how the female grows up and what she has to offer.

if this catches on, i bet we see more "virtual" breedings being discussed.
