ahSighEE it's ironic you mentioned that about as you went through the bags the stools got better. When I first switched over, of course, like I was supposed to, mixing it.............their stools were really good and I was very happy. But now it seems the more of it I feed the worse their stools are getting...............

Yeah man, I couldn't figure it out...I'd do like you , and buy 6 bags when i got paid, and by the end of every bag , all was good. When I start a new bag, all went to pot, mush potty, and when got to over 1/2 of each bag all was well again. They co.blamed my dogs, and I told Ms Janet, mam" I never ever had a sick dog, my dogs are big eaters and good health, wormed and in nice condition , but your dog food has something in it that doesnt belong there.

I had the same experience with the Diamond Natural lamb and rice...my dogs coats got bad and their stools got soft. I am now feeding the Kirkland lamb abd rice...all is great so far. I know they are made by the same company. I thought that I was the only one that had problems on the Diamond Naturals so I never contacted the company.

Sorta kinda
I've found that I have to shift from brand to brand about every 6 mos to a year. I fed Diamond, for a couple of years, dogs started going south, shifted to Canidae. Worked for awhile then I started going south....too costly for my operation. Went back to Diamond...same thing. Went to Bil Jac. Worked for awhile and .... yep ... too expensive again. I am now feeding Exceed Lamb and Rice and the dogs are looking great. Picking up a little weight, nice and slow. Coats are turning really good. And they're finishing their food before I can get out of their pens.
I've heard people saying good things about the Exceed (Sam's Club) and Kirkland (Costco). So, as long as my dogs are doing okay, why not. I don't believe half of what the manufacturers are saying, even when they're saying something.
If I had time and only one or two dogs I might try raw. Might not either. I give them all chicken backs about 3x a week so I'm not totally badddd!
One thing I do that I don't see much mention of is about once a month, for 3 days, I give them all a tbsp of acidopholus. I feel I'm replenishing some of the good bacteria. I even take a capsule everyday and I haven't been sick in hours. jk

I think it was mentioned TOTW is made by Diamond.... it doesn't have the grains, maybe that is making the difference.

4pack- how are your dogs doing now? I switched to Chicken Soup a few months ago when I was in the hospital & Carl didn't want to make the drive across NJ to get it....now my pups are having diarrhea after starting a new bag....I went back to the dog food rating site, & sure enough, Chicken Soup is made by Diamond. I swore I would never feed my dogs anything made by them....the sneaky so&so's. Back to Orijen for me, too. No matter how I have to get it! Something in that food, (the Diamond stuff) is not per the company's specs. I love my dogs too much to risk losing them over a couple $$$. I just hope my puppy is OK. My sable male really got the withering sh*ts, the others just went soft.....I had to work tonight, so I told my husband to please cook them some rice, he made them cream of wheat! AAARRRGGGGHHHH! Men! jackie harris

Jackie,
I think it's weird(not crazy, not putting down), that different people have different results...I guess I find it intriguing....
My dogs, in the past, have done very well on Diamond.
Largo, my rottie, had issues with all grains as a puppy, so I experimented with a variety of grain frees. She is now on TOTW, and does great on it.
My male Rottie, has in the past, been on Diamond Performance, and he looked great on it.
Gallon, my male GSD, looks good on it.
I switched Caden, the Rottie, to Canidae, and he looked like crap, stools were horrid and stinky.
My cat is on TOTW....she looks great at 13 yrs of age...
All my dogs are now on TOTW and doing well, except for the service dogs in training---they are on Eukanuba(ease of getting it for their future recipients---they may not have the $$$$ for grain frees and may not have TOTW near them)
In the early 80's, I fed either Bench and Field(loved it), or KASCO(Loved it), and mixed, occassionally some frozen Bil-Jac.
I piced up a bag of Royal Canine for Min Schnauzers(I have an old boy with schnauzer skin)....Got it home, looked at the label, and promptly took it back----I won't feed corn to my dogs----it has corn in it. So, he is on TOTW and table scraps(he is old and has a cast iron stomach)
In the 90's I fed Precise when I could afford to or get some freebies, Diamond 99% of the time(yellow bag), and my dogs all got some cooked food(I had a farm then, and butchered a steer once a year, and had the butcher make all the non-human stuff in to "ground" beef formula, along with all the bones.) The folks in my church used to save all their chicken bones/carcasses, which I would pressure cook for many hours then put in the blender, and feed to the dogs, heated up in the winter months----they loved that "gruel". My local grocery store(small town, 1000 people) used to save the "saw dust" off the meat cutters for me(they cut their own beef)....it was great...I hunted deer/rabbit/squirrel every year, so my dogs also got wild meat----but only cooked(does wild venison have worms?????)......
If I could handle cold weather, I would go back up to Indiana, and live like that again----my dogs would live high on the cow.....Smile....
BUT, on a side note, I found a company down here:
You can by a case of chicken with bone, ground, for 40.50. It contains 15-2lb chubs....so 30lbs of chicken...1.35 per pound, not including shipping.

That's what I hate about RC, corn. If I wanted to feed that crap I could do it much cheaper via Purina Dog Chow!
I fed a bag of Chicken Soup last month. The dogs liked it well enough but I just bought it cause I was broke. I want to get away from Diamond...again. Found Orijen pretty cheap and want to try that for my working guys but still not sure what to do for the old rescue gal. She is doing well on the TOTW, happy and ate it all up this morning. Maybe like Spence the magical time limit is up and she needs a switch? Maybe I will get the Exceed but I just went to Sam's and looked at their foods and thought, all of it was crap "no offence Spence". I haven't exactly fed this girl the best, so she will probably enjoy any change. I'll figure something out this weekend, when I pick up the Orijen.
