I gave Baden Solid Gold Wolfcub as a pup and he reluctantly ate it for 3 days and then wouldn't touch it whatsoever. It gave him the squirts something terrible and I couldn't get why such a high priced food wasn't lapped up like "gold". I fed the rest to my rescue who eats just about anything and whatever we deem not good enough for the pedigree working dogs. I tried a bag of Timberwolf also, at some point and can't even remember the results but obviously wasn't impressed enough to keep buying.
I have never fed Eagle Pack, it was suggested when I bought one of my dogs who was imported, she looked like death and after researching the ingredients, it's no wonder. My opinion is the same as KCzaja, that it's crap!

Ive tried them all, and have settled on Royal Canin
I have a wirecoated dog at the moment & she excels on the Royal. I really like it & recommend it..

Poopyscoopy, if you would like to read that Diamond makes Solid Gold you can go to Wikipedia, however that is not how I found out. As far as it being full of grain, the adult formula has only 31.9% meat in it.. That is definately on the low side. I talk to the manufacturers that how I get my information.

Ironbark
The Solid Gold Barking at the Moon is rated 6* by Dog Review and does not contain Grains but crude Protein 42%
The other foods do as you say contain a fair bit of Grain
weighing it all up from what you guys say it seems that many firms who make these kibbles are suspect as to what goes into the Mix
Is there no control over there , I mean periodically over the months or is it a free for all
Perhaps i had best look towards places like Holland they sell CHAMP and BARCA Dog Food
and Belgium BENTO KRONEN, I can at least find out what goes in it

Solid Gold is manfactured by Diamond Pet Foods. Timberwolf is manufactured by Chenago Valley Pet foods in New York state. Both companies have been involved in many recalls
Both products have been voluntarily recalled recently. I would stay with Orijen if I was you.

You are right
Its Scary how these Food People keep getting recalls and there is no one going to tell me that they do not realise what rubbish they are putting in the so called food
Orijen it is , I was Just looking for a little variety to give Fred, but not at the cost of his health

Diamond Pet Foods is the largest co-packer in the industry in other words they manufacture dog food for other companies thru the years they have killed thousads of dog's they have actually had recalls just for their food Now I see Canidae is using Diamond a real tradgey as many breeders and dog owners have trusted them for years with good results and now most of these people don't even know they have cheapened the food and raised the price and now have Diamond manufacturing their product. Corporate greed at it's finest.
Chenago Valley Pet foods isn't far behind Diamond they are a large co-packer that was involved in last years recall up to their necks and lets say for sure they have killed hundreds of dogs thru the years
Steve1 I remeber last year when I was looking at dog food for my new pup I looked at Timberwolf and boy it looked real good they had a couple of formulas that looked very tepting. So I e-mailed Timberwolf and asked them if they manufactred the food if they didn't who did? Well they e-mailed me back and told me it was propritary information and couldn't tell me. Right away it sounded an alarm for me so I dove head long into some research and didn't like what I found in the least. I found Chenago now manufactures their food and buys the food stuffs uses the same machines as all their other brands and at best does slip shod quality control. I also found out that previously they used Diamond Pet foods to manufacture their food and it got leaked and almost put Timberwolf out of business as Diamond was in the middle of a nasty recall that costs hundreds of dogs their lives so the switched to Chenago I guess the lesser of 2 evils.
What we as dog owners need to get thru our heads is our dogs lives are at stake here. These hugh corporate conglomerates could care less about our dogs Canidae is a prime example all they care about is the bottom line profit ledger. Who cares if a few dogs get killed along the road to corportae profits. Wel I sure as hell care as it is costing us dog owners thousands of our beloved dogs. I will never forget last year a post on this forum from a woman whose dog had just died from renal failure from feeding her dog Diamond dog food it was heart breaking to read the grief and sorrow this poor woman had from the loss of her dog.
