We have State Farm, and there have never been any issues. They did ask if the dogs are trained, and I said "yes-for obedience only." They did ask how many dogs live with us, and I told them five (5) total. We've had no problems ever, and I intend it to stay that way.

I think in some states it is illegal for an insurance company to descriminate against specific breeds when issuing a homeowner's policy.

I have Travelers Indemnity no problem getting it or maintaining it, simple application. VB

state farm also, no problems, the breed doesn't matter. My financial guy is trying to save us some more money on insurance, but I told him straight up. If the company has any bans of ANY breeds, I don't care how cheap they are, I don't want 'em.

Not all insurance companies are licensed to write policies in all states. Secondly, just mention Schutzhund training, for example, and no one is likely to insure. Practically weekly I hear from people wanting to get rid of their GSD because they have just been denied HO insurance, or, worse yet, the dog has already bitten someone and the policy has been cancelled. Such records by the way, travel with you as the insurance industry keeps their own claims records.
Though I have never had an incident of any kind, because I do obedience training here *(yes, obedience training), I cannot get liability insurance for my kennel. Others won't insure because I live on the same property as my facility and still others don't insure because I have GSDs or do SchH. So I have fire/tornado etc., insurance, and that in and of itself costs me thousands of dollars a year.
In our state, yes, insurance companies can and do exclude people based on dog breeds.

USAA, the company that insures military doesn't have a problem either. Farm Bureau will insure as well. Any questions you have, ask before getting a policy. Clark Howard "talk radio" has spoken may time about insurance co. sometimes consider "what if" questions as "a claim". I know it is wrong.
Try the military if we want info. we will ask. A friend of mine called about a trampoline, about 4 months later the insurance co. showed up to check out their back yard. That was just off a question.
Good luck.

I use to have Farmers, then the dogs became a problem, they are on again off again, so I stay with State Farm.

I was going to say USAA, that is my insurance but you can't get it unless you are or where miltary or married to someone in the military. These don't apply to GARD.

4pack, you can get it if your parent/step parent was in the milary and they have it.
