Let me just add that this is no ordinary 12 year old... she is one of the most intelligent, thoughtful, dog-savvy kids I have met in a long time!

Awww, thanks Shelley. By the way, it took her all of 2 days to read that book. She really liked it.

Wow! +/- 600 pgs in 2 days? It WAS a neat story. Glad she enjoyed it.

The juniors are the future of showing and breeding dogs. Without them there will be no dog sports in a few more generations.
Kudos to all of you for leading your kids down the right path and giving them something to do with their time other than playing video games and getting into trouble in chat rooms.

Damn right, Blitzen. Kids today are irresponsible, lazy, and disrespectful with an unbelievable sense of self-entitlement. Being a working dog handler teaches patience, compassion, and instills a work ethic. My grandmother brought me up, so I got the "old school" child rearing, and that's what I give her. She also comes to work with me, gets to walk dogs, help out in the kennel, and occasionally train. She gets paid for it. Between that and her puppy, she understands that the world doesn't hand you anything, you want something, you have to work for it.

KCzaja, Katjo74, and Kalibeck: That is so cool. It sounds like all of you have "pups" (4 legged and 2 legged) that are showing great promise for a bright future. I agree 100% with Blitz.
