''Cats and dogs can easily process high protein levels when the food is in its whole form''

I always soak the kibbles before i give them to my dogs. Will they do okay if i soak the orijen kibbles in warm water. According to OGBS they will process it better.

AristianM,

Soaking your pet's kibble in water is an excellent practice and does help your dogs digest their food better. This is not to say that it is returning the chicken in Orijen or any other food to its whole form.

To give you some idea of this, if you were to take 10lbs of whole deboned chicken breast and removed the moisture content and ground it in to meal form to make kibble you would have 2lbs of chicken meal. If you were feeding your dog 1-1/2 cups of Orijen at each meal you would probably not want to add 7-1/2 cups of water to it to "recreate" its whole form. Your dog might give you one of those looks like, "What the hell are you doing to my food?" (lol)

I hope this helps!

Lmao! I just dont get one thing...Orijen, innova etc are supposed to be one of the best dog foods on the market. If u go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com you will find that orijen has the highest rating. I mean shoud'nt the dog do okay on this. Im confused...the worst dog foods like purina etc have issues and the best dog foods also have issues? Could someone please clarify things to me? :) The only problem is that i already got a bag of innova evo. I mixed some of it with my dogs old dog food and he inhaled it. I have never seen him eat like that, he just loved it! So guys please what should i do?

I have been feeding Orijen for over a year now, and the Dogs coat  shines, his energy is boundless and he looks great

Its expensive to buy over here $123 for a 30 lb bag

But when a Dog looks so well on it i would never change a winning formula for another kibble

Reading about TOTW kibble on this forum many times it seems to be very good, and i would like to feed the other Pup on  it as he cannot tolerate the high protein, that but we cannot find an outlet over here in Belgium that sells it

Will my 13 month female gsd do okay on EVO? She is adult height ie, 24inches. Some people say taht protien rich dog foods like evo and orijen can cause liver problems? Is that true?

Your dog should do just fine on it. Keep an eye on her poop to see if  there are any issues. You may also want to look at the reduced fat version of Evo.

I'm still reeling with the fact that I can buy Orijen cheaper than EVO.

Orijen is $10 cheaper over here. The guy at the store said that Orijen is cheaper because it is made in Canada..Evo is an American dog food..
