I don't think there is a set price.    I think there are a lot of variable's.  I think it all depends on your point of view.

I think big change's are coming.  I think you know what I say is true.

Where are you located? I just had two litters and both sold easily, leaving a few disappointed people, and this was the same scenario another breeders in my area.  We also traded referrals with each other, as I had females available and she had males. or vice a versa...it is all a blurr now. :)

Perhaps networking with others breeders in your area would help...

I have had a tough time also.  I have 4 puppies left from SchH3, FH parents!  Both Mom and Dad are SchH3!  Very nice working pedigrees too.  I started at $1,200 and now am at $800.  These puppies are now 5 months old and are phenominal too boot!

I think the poor economy is hurting all facets of life!

Its true it will depend on where you are located. In CT area its hard to get good working dog, you would have to sign in way before the litter is due and keep in touch with breeder on regular basis if you would want one. But than CT economy for years been one of the stronger in the country. Plus good GSD breeders in CT are hard to come by and you need to really spend a lot of time looking around.

I guess that it doesn't make me feel that bad when I here everyone else having the same problem that we are. Well they are only 2 weeks old now, so about 6 more weeks before I really start worrying.

I am sure once their peronalites and individual looks start to shine through, you will get more interest......

Until then...enjoy!!!!!

Around here you can pay any where from $1,200-$4,500 for a pup. Of course the $4,500 is at Kolenda kennels though.  I do think it has to do with the economy.  It's worse in Michigan, but it's catching up all over I think. I sure am glad I don't have any puppies right now to worry about. I'm sure with your pups you won't have a problem once they get older. With breeding it's always a roller coaster effect, but it is hard times right now too.

WOW 4500.00 I,m in the wrong business, this is why I don,t dam any working dog folks for what they can get for there pups. That was the Kennel that the people  brought puppies to our club that would not play with toy,This is why we need to teach the general public about our breed and what it is supposed to work like, preform like, so people can make a well educated choice.

When it goes up to $4,500 then your looking at a west show line pup out of Kolenda kennels. Usually it is around $1,000-$1,500 for a working line pup though.  I am not a big fan of that kennel at all especially when I went there in person, and was showed around. JMO

Wow 4,500.00 for pups that is crazy even if it is a show line pup. I thought that maybe being in the Chicago area 1,200.00 was to much, but only time will tell
