Get a Real Dog , I am sorry for the loss of a friend. A VERY SAD DAY, for your community.

Thank you all for the kind words.

There were four "old guys" ( 33-36) in our academy.  Our group was full of young hot shots. Us "old" guys( Me, Tony, Nick, and Rob) bonded and worked together. I used to beat Tony on the firing range, but one day we went head to head in a "quick draw" contest. He killed me. He was a boxer and had those quick hands. The "old guys" were in the top 5 of every aspect of our academy. We used to smoke the young bucks. Our group were all good guys and girls with one of the highest percentages of graduates actually getting on with a department. We were just more mature, driven, and did not take things for granted.

Tony's 4 year old was born right before our graduation.

Thanks again for all the kind words.

Sorry, indulge me with one more story.......

We were going at it one day in defensive tactics. Tony was a boxer not a very large guy. We stand toe to toe and I try to box with him. Needless to say he made me look silly. I could not hit him. He kept dancing around sticking, moving, and just laying hands on me. This went on for about two minutes with the whole class laughing. I finally said, "enough of this shit" got ahold of him and got my turn, but he whooped my ass pretty good. I took alot of ribbing for that for quite some time.

Funny how you forget things.

I am so sorry for the officer, family and friends.  I have 3 very good friends who are police officers and as a retired Firefighter/Paramedic, I have had the unfortunate job of having to take care of and transport f---ing scumbags who shot officers to the ER. Man how they whine when they get hurt.

I have also had to care and transport officers who were hurt doing their duty.  My husband (former officer now Firefighter/rescue capt).  and I had a good friend killed in the line of duty and it stays with you, and that was 15 years ago.  I am glad to see Get a Real Dog, that you and others are there for his family and each other.  May the scumbag trip and fall down a big dark hole.
