Hopefully Goran will not be adversely effected by those two dogs.

I have had similiar situations walking my pup recently. Fortunately I can still pick her up, but I've had a beagle charge her in the neighborhood and yesterday a dog being walked off leash in the park came at her. I got the 'he just wants to say hi' crap when I asked the owner to leash her dog, which after the dog started circling and growling, she finally did.

Most off leash dogs don't approach my adult, thank goodness.

I have heard that ammonia in the eyes will stop a dog, has anyone tried it?

now you need the farmer to verify rabies shots of dogs or face treatment, and you threatened someones life to witness's

Never tell someone your coming.   let it be a suprise.

what happens now if you need to involve the authorities?

I dont blame you for being pissed off, but you should be careful about making threats.  It can come back to haunt you.

Revenge is best served cold.

I carry mace and a wiffle ball bat when I take Blitz out. If a dog comes out after him I scream like an idiot and will make a UFO out of the dog if the owner doesn't retrieve it before it gets to Blitz. All the neighbors thinks I'm nuts, but I don't care. When they see us coming, they snatch up their dogs and run inside. Mission accomplished. That method also keeps the neighbors' dogs out of my yard. I have an  underground fence. Blitz is a big dog, 97 lbs, and can handle himself, but I do not want him to fight. Once a dog has a good go around with another dog, it seems they find out it is great fun and want to do it again.

Steve, some herding breeds actually call for thick. longer coats to protect the dog from being bitten by wolves and other dogs .

A man need never revenge himself,   the body of his enemy will be brought to his own door.

Because of the dog fighting post from yesturday I remebered cattle prods are fun as well as functional.   And they may actually  be stylish..lol     like a walking stick.     I'm off to Tractor Supply today.   The kids are gonna love it!  The wife? I'm not so sure...  I'll let ya know how it turns out.

There are many paths to the top of the mountain, but the view is always the same.

Hi Steve:  What a way to ruin a nice mornings walk.  I'm glad Goran is OK.  JRTs can be such nasty little dogs.

by ResOps on 07 April 2008 - 16:04

Steve glad to hear Goran was ok- we had a similar attack 3 weeks ago by two beagles from down the street (again always running the neighbourhood) Once thought he was invincible - the other thought he could fly. Turned out the flight was only momentary (via boot) and the other felt his mortality watching watching the hit the ground.

It's funny how so many owners of these little dogs have no issue letting them run, and funnier how savage these little ones can be in attacking other dogs.

My wife always carries bear spray when walking Kaiya - and thats a sad thing to have to do when you spend the time and effort to ensure your pet is well behaved  and then you have people like that.

You should get proof of vacinations from this person. If they're not taking any responsibility for their pets actions I would be worried about their level of care for vacinations..
