i am still awaiting acceptance in that EPI forum---so until then--------anyone to comment??

Is this a specialist or just your regular vet?

regular vets---there a 3 in the parctice---the man owner DR. B, ---female DR. G & other female Dr. P
DR. G i saw when i got dog--1st eval
Dr. B-- i saw for #2 & #3 evaluations-- #3 visit was the stool & EPI testing & treatment of flagyl, prednisone, centrine & antibiotic shots
DR B was one who d/c"d prednisone & added tylan powder per my phone call when dog not doing better
Dr G--called with test results & prescribed all the latest treatments etc up till today when i called again re: why both flagyl & tylan

It might not be a bad idea to go to a specialist.
Have there been any kind of fecal cultures done on her. Just to rule out any bacteria, that the Tylan may not cover.

the 2 different times we did stool tests---i believe they were for paracites & worms only? she was treated with Panacure week or so after ist stool test cuz of all her eating, not gaining weight...etc then when stools became more frequently loose//diarrhea --then on 3/26 is when we did 2nd stool & EPItesting
what kind of stool cx"s are their? wouldn't her being on tylan & flagyl mask anything?

There's bacteria like Cryptosporidiam and one other that starts with a C

Chlamydia and Clostridium are two others.

I know that there's one that they can come up positive for that the standard metronadizale, tylan will not cover. I think that they are also treated with an antibiotic like amoxi. Do you have a specialty practice in your area that you can go to?

My boy also was diagnosed with SIBO, and IBD. The Vet put him on metrozondile (spelling?) for it, but after perusing the Yahoo EPI site, and asking questions there, I started using the Tylan for it, and stopped the Vet given antibiotic. It worked. It is also available without prescription, and can be used long term. I used it for a year. Now I do not. I also started the probiotics to help replace the flora lost through the use of antibiotics.
Once accepted at the Yahoo site, make sure and ask all pertinant questions to the folk there. They have so much knowledge and experience treating this disease, along with the oft accompanying SIBO and IBD, I go to them before the Vet. My vet did not even want to test for EPI, only wanted to work on Irratable Bowel disease. If not for the advice from the Yahoo site, who knows how long my boy would have suffered needlessly. My Vet was not familar with this disease, and is actually learning more about it through my dog. Granted I live in a very small town, where it may not be seen much.
