I have seen this fault in the extreme, a very nervy GSD bitch bought at a pet store, I trained her as an adolescent, her front end was so malformed her front legs looked they belonged on a basset hound. Best of all, the woman was bound and determined to breed her.  A slight bit is not the end of the world and certainly doesn't affect work, but make no mistake, in can be so severe as to impede the dogs' movement. I know of another male who has had corrective surgery because it was so bad. He doesn't appear much straighter to me post-op, but at least it is not worsening. I also trained a young male so badly cowhocked his hind legs got stuck on over the other when he was performing a flip finish.

This is a question brought out of my experience with the Warmbloods I work with at school.  In general when we are looking at foals we dont want foals that are too straight in the legs during their lanky stage - they've generally reached full height but not width - because when their barrel and hips widesn it pushes the legs out...and foals with very correct legs at a young age start to toe in.

I was wondering if this was the case with Shepherds?  My girl is just under 1 year - and she is easty westy and some cow hocked (doesnt impede movement at all) but she's also narrow as a twig - she's going to gain bone and weight as she matures (which is what the experienced people keep telling me) and her pelvis widening and her chest dropping might push her elbows and hips out some....  Is that generally true?  I know it is in horses....but dogs are a new experience for me...I will say that my mix was very straight in the rear as a pup and is now mildly toed in - but he's also gotten fat....we're working on that too O.o

Looks like a link already got posted. I just don't like bringing up kennels names but just got back to this thread and wasn't sure what to do but it got done anyway..... I remembered seeing the pics of that dog and the negative feedback. I agree quite a spendy price for untitled stock. I think some people have a silver tongue and can talk the talk....
