Having bred one of the most dog aggressive breeds around, I feel pretty safe in stating that, yes, it is in the genes. The breed is not nearly as bad as it once was was due to selective breeding for dogs that are not dog aggressive. These dogs were not nervy, far from it. The way dogs are handled really has little to do with it in my experience. If you have a dog of any breed that wants to kill every dog they see, you can hit it over the head with a 2 x 4 and it would still try to have at the other dogs. It's in the genes, baby.
