Here in PA groceries have gone up 20% in the last year, 40% in the last two. I paid $2. for a smallish head of romaine lettuce recently, and $3.29 for a loaf of store-made sour dough bread... and it is a SMALL loaf! Gas here at $3.35+ Cheaper than gas in Europe, but still makes me pre-think my route when I get in the van to run errands. Nowadays when I see a non-perishable item I know I use on a continuing basis on sale, I stock up, even if I have to store it in my clothes closets.
Times are tough in the US. I just hope the next administration addresses the American economy aggressively from Day One. Let's not turn this thread into a political debate, though please...

I spend $800+ on groceries a month. You don't have to tell me prices have gone up. Here it has been a big jump in the last 4 months.
