There are a LOT of reputable breeders who can get you a pup for far less. Anyone who tells you that a quality pet should cost $3000 is full of crap.
Your best bet is to find a small family breeder who lives close enough to you that you can visit and meet both people and dogs, and see for yourself what kind of dogs are used for their breeding program, and what conditions the dogs are kept in. Buying a puppy sight unseen from a commerical breeder with a slick web site and a sexy sales pitch leaves you at more risk to get the shaft.
So forget the Google searches... you'll just turn up the commerical breeders who have lots of money to pay their web master. Instead, consider finding a training club near you... even if you're not interested in training yourself... and talk to the people there about where they got their dogs, or to see if any folks in that club are planning a litter. Still no guarantee you'll get exactly what you want, but a much better chance of getting the right puppy for your lifestyle at a reasonable price.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the breeder of my young male pup... von Hayden German Shephreds, but I don't know where you live to know if you're anywhere close. Feel free to contact me privately and I'd be happy to discuss my positive experience with this kennel personally.

Hello
I have 2 shepherds, A 3 1/2 year old female and an eight month old male. My son bought them from VomDinaburge.com in West Bloomfield Michigan. They ship the puppies all over.
They just had another litter on Feb. 7. The sire is my male's father and the mother is my female's mother. I don't show as I am retired...If I was younger I would learn the ropes. These dogs are very easy to train. Everyday they show me how smart they are. I recommend this breeder 100%.
They are expecting another litter next month from my male's parents.

I'm looking for a great import female for my breeding program. Better to find a female here in U.S so not have to pay shipping. The American dollar is nothing anymore in Europe,

Thank you very much - my website is http://workinggermanshepherd.com I am a breeder who stands behind my pups 100%. Sometimes my pups are not suitable for every "pet" home and if they aren't, I'll tell you that and try if I can to recommend another breeder who may have more suitable puppies.

Ined,
Where are you located? Knowing that would help direct you to a breeder.
One I would recommend is Suzanne Eviston at von Grunheide Shepherds. http://www.vongrunheideshepherds.com/

KCzaja,
So what exactly is the meaning to your post? It's funny how you accuse me of posting slanderous and “accusatory” commentory but you should start judging your own. I have never rip people off and neither have my connections. You have no fricken right to post this garbage. You don't know how I conduct business and therefore you should really learn to shut the heck up.
Guess who's posting slanderous post now hot shot??!?!?
Oh and good job into not contributing to this topic.I think you may need to increase your A.D.H.D. medication... it seems that it's not working out for you since you're often easily distracted that ended up losing focus on the real subject.

You have been asked twice about your location--it really would help to put you in touch with reputable breeders in your area, where you can go see the puppies, parents, etc. Are you located in Washington State? Do you have a preference regarding workinglines, or show lines? As you were looking at Kraftwerk, I assume you are interested in a workingline puppy.
Personal recommendation:
von Lindesfarne (Mark and Michele Scarberry) Ohio
I second Tina's receommendation of von Grunheide (Suzanne Eviston) Washington State
