i have to agree with einsatz.....
legislators spend far too much time on things such as this when there are real issues that they need to tackle. (sorry for the play on words) we already have a lot of "laws" that shouldn't even be "laws." the less that people are allowed to think for themselves, the worse this will become. personally, i think a lot of "laws" are passed and enforced for no other reason but to fine people and businesses......to generate funds. ridiculous. this fella needs to get a coaching certificate, if he doesn't already have one, and stick to something he knows. sorry. i'm a jaded old lady who is sick of being told what to do by idiots.

Many safety experts advise against posting personal information on the internet. I don't want my children posting their full names and God forbid, their ADDRESSES on the internet. If I post on a political website, and my employer doesn't share my opinions, I could be opening myself up to being the first he fires. As long as I do no harm, my anonymity harms no other person, and my free speech is protected from busybody Kentuckians by the first amendment.
Sorry, I think Tim in Kentucky needs to go back to the private sector as soon as his constituants can vote him out.
Davy Crockett must be spinning in his grave.

Like gunlaws make unabiding criminals feel safer, identity thieves and "internet predators" would have their job easier.

That very suggestion is the epitome of stupidity.
It's an invitation to stalkers and pedophiles - "Come get me!"
It's an invitation for victims of crimes and witnesses of crimes to be further traumatized, threatened or worse.
It's an invitation for everyone in law enforcement and their families to be in harm's way.
The surgeon, doctor or nurse who cared for the relative of an unstable person - the relative that didn't make it.
Need I go on?
We all know that children shouldn't be unsupervised on the internet. We all know that doesn't always happen.
I do use my name and I do post my location. That's it. I also have a CCW permit and have no problem using my little Glock if the need should ever arise.
D.C. - As I understand it, this is not the same Tim Couch that QB's for Cleveland.

um..... that should have read "QB'd", as in past tense. Sorry.

It seems you people over there would feel kind of naked if you were not carrying a Gun
I suppose that is your way of life, Me I would rather fight the old fashioned way
I have surived through some rough times in my life time the same as many more, and i would guess i am older than most of you fellows
I only went over to England for three days to a Pigeon Show and was attacked from behind by two fellows on the second day there, the first time that has happened to me for more than forty years, so at times England is just as violent as anywhere else
its no different over in England than most parts of the USA, You have some who will take advantage of others and that happens in every country
As for putting addresses on the forum i did not mention that, just the correct name and area one lived
I have read posts on here where people verbally abuse each other, and that is abuse
Knowing they are safe without any form of come back, so they can say and attack another in public even if what they say is not true a persons credability can be ruined
I personally do not bother who knows where i live, the thing in life is to be up front but i think that is a dying comodaty

steve1:
"You people?" A little derogative, don't you think?
I, personally, wouldn't feel "naked" so much as vulnerable. I'm a middle-age, small built woman with physical limitations on top of that. I'm also not ignorant of the crimes in my area, who commits them and the weapons that are used. I was also the victim of a crime. Once. At that time I was 5'4" and 108 lbs. My attacker was 5'11" and 240 lbs. I became painfully aware, in short order, that my fists weren't enough to defend myself. I survived, yes, but I don't relish spending weeks in the hospital for that reason again.
The next one that wants to beat hell out of me and take my handbag will have to address my "equilizer" first. I guarantee I won't be asking them to wait while I call 911 for the police. They can turn 'round and leave, or they can try me further and be carried away in a body bag. It's as simple as that.
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have them.

You guys sure can take a simple thread and turn it into a web.
Steve, once you have logged onto the internet someone knows where you are and what computer you are using.
Guns? Yes America is in the minority when it comes to having the right to bear arms, it was not intended for personal protection, it was intended to ensure freedom both from foriegn and domestic threats.
This Kentucky politition is just selling soap, it was sad about the girl commiting suicide but I dont think the whole story has been told. The internet sites like my space are what should be banned, they attract kids on purpose and again it goes back to making money.
Our crime problems are the fault of a failing justice system and money, or the lack of it, and could be remeded with a little common sense.
Sorry we're all out of common sense.
The government gave the internet system to the public for a very good reason.
The more you know...............:)

My understanding is that the proposed law requires actual name and address to be disclosed only to the forum controller. But Einsatz is correct.
