I really didn't have a big problem with the price.  I have just seen it stated here numerous time that "you are nuts to spend that kind of money on a pup" or close to it.  I am not a rich man but not poor either.  I just like to do my reasearch before I spend that kind of money.  I've been looking for over a month now and know 10 times what I used to.

You folks are right though,  I should write a list and know exactly what I want.

I'm glad I wrote this thread I have allot more info to ponder.

Superb post, firethorn; particularly the advice related to pup selection etc. I was becoming convinced this forum had in fact very little to do with the animal, or incidentally so only, but, instead, was largely preoccupied with people-related foibles; if not overwhelmingly an excuse for self-indulgent ‘chat’ per se by folk with simply too much time on their hands! You aptly underscored the GSD’s trotting qualities, and as dictate structural requisites of course, but I occasionally wonder how this is really meant to relate to its wider fitness for a variety of other tasks as well. For instance, there doesn’t seem much need for good angles where modern guarding or protection work is concerned (or the general obsession with bite-work for that matter), nor does a rigid spine promote agility (or activities that involve jumping?) I’d appreciate your views.
