I like this statement on their site;  http://www.harrisonk9.com/html/bloodlines.cfm

"In Europe, the German Shepherds's genetic purity has been painstakingly protected and preserved by the world's top breeders.

The result is the continuance of the exceptionally keen, agile, and intelligent European German Shepherd-free from the faults found in the over bred common shepherd from the United States."

WTF? That's insulting.

I don't even see the mention of these "painstakingly protected" bloodline names. It must be a secret!

And check this statement on their site;

"The German Shepherd is also more expensive to import and train, that's why many facilities use the Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, Rottweiler and other similar breeds, because they cannot afford to import quality , pink-papered, Schutzhund titled German Shepherds and figure you as a regular non-dog trainer will not know you are getting considerably less than the best for your family."

Calling Mals and Dutchies cheap and people only use them because they cannot afford a "pink papered" GSD? What a joke.

My father in law sent me the article.  He was tickled to know that the big male showline, Schutzhund- trained GSD, that loves to play with him, (albeit gently--my FIL is 90) is worth about $50K!!! LMAO

The people that buy these dogs are suckers.  They don't know any better.  Harrison buys SchH show dogs that don't cut the mustard.  He trains them for 3 months on how to bark in a car, manners, etc.  After the three months are up, they are sold to a rich person that has absolutely no clue.

Your analogy is good but not precise.  Most rich people didn't get that way by throwing their money into the wind.  If these "suckers" actually did their research, they could buy the dog direct for $8000 and pay a trainer another $2000 to train him for 3 months in your home, with you and saved $12,000 to $50,000 on a piece of crap that probably wont defend you with his life.  I understand that rich people don't want to actually train the dog themselves, but they also don't like throwing money away.  It is more a matter of persuasive salesmanship and lack of intelligence.

No way Don. Don't you know that these dogs are from bloodlines "painstakingly protected and preserved by the world's top breeders" that are "exceptionally keen, agile, and intelligent" and most folks can't afford them?

These dogs at Harrison are "super dogs" man!

These dogs should be guarding the President of the United States of America! These aren't for your average Joe!

LMAO

Marty,

Rin Tin Tin WAS a working line. It's a myth that he was a lowkey showline type. Pure Hollywood bunk.

Hardawg- from what I have seen of Mals and Dutchies I have to say I would trust one of them to take care of my security.   And last I heard the prices of these Mals are definately being driven up by demand.

Max-that's a LOT of information on dog fighting.

I talked to this Harrison guy myself and he is a joke.

I've told this story before:

Someone I train with told me to call this guy for a dog.  I was honest and told him my background in GSDs and training.  He said he had the perfect dog for me.  It was a dark sable from working lines.  He said all others were from show lines, but I could handle this dog.  He said the dog was so phenomenal, that he would keep the dog for himself, BUT his "partner" has horses and the dog doesn't like horses.  He said that was the only reason.  I laughed and said that my wife also has horses and he said that I sound like a good enough trainer to get the dog to like horses.........WTF.  Here is a guy that charges 50,ooo and I am more qualified?  Just an excellent BSer that went to a Dale Carnagie seminar.

Hey, atleast he is not scamming the working folk!  More power to him.  the only problem I have is if a client actually needed protection and the dog wasn't up to the challenge.

He's basically providing a security blanket for scared people with alot of money.

Yep, alot of Mals and Dutchies kick ass. That's while you'll find alot of them in police departments and militaries around the globe. But all those police departments and mighty militaries must be too poor to afford the quality pink papererd showline dog for their use.

  LMFAO
