you really need to ask yourself why you are doing a breeding. is it to sell puppies or do you want a working dog. a title itself is worthless, w/ the weaker and weaker dogs getting titles you really have to use the lowest common denominator . and assume that even though a dog has sch3 its still crap, UNLESS YOU HAVE SEEN THE DOG WORK!!!!
so i personally would breed the stronget dog w/ the best nerves and health. title or not. and on the other hand ive seen dozens of active K9 dogs that are worthless.
it really isnt a yes or no question. regardless of what you do, there will be someone who disagrees.

Kyle- With all due respect most professional breeders have a "market"; weather it be right or wrong it's just the reality of any business. I'm not saying they are not "improving the breed" they are just IMO trying to select the best prospects that would be suitable for police, sport or family companion. That was the point I was trying to make. I think the one thing we can agree on is that the service dogs also IMO are more breed worthy. There is a seperation between the 2 despite the fact there shouldn't be but reality has it that it is seperated because there's things sport enthusiasts look for specifically and things LEO's and SAR look for specificially. Most times it's very hard to expect to get all of the above to give everyone what they are looking for. Can we agree on that??

No disrespect but it is obvious you are somewhat new to this. They are all looking for very similiar charateristics, just to different degrees. They all need an element of hardness and strong nerve inclusive of the SAR dog .
GSD breeding is not designer dog breeding ie. great searc and rescue litter, great K9 litter, great sport litter, great home companions. This is how we have gotten prey drive monsters that have 2 speeds, jumping out of its skin and asleep.
Within a good working litter not all pups will have the make up to be police K9, sport champs or successful SAR dogs, The washouts are your family companion dogs. Family companion dogs is not something to breed for, they will come with the working litter. The breeder is the evaluator of placing which pups in which homes.
We have all seen crap police K9 and sport dogs. I was speaking of an ideal and in a perfect world. But what do you expect from a police agency that puts a brand new K9 team on the street after 3 weeks. I'm talking about a person that has never owned a dog to responding to calls with a patrol K9 in 3 weeks.

Kyle- Yes I am a newbie. lol But I'm learning so it is good that you are offering this input. I'm open minded. I have a very good friend who is active in the sport and also an LEO; he looks for 2 different caliber of dogs. It's not likely his patrol dog is not gonna be a national level point scoring dog a sport enthusiast is gonna be looking for and his sport dog is not gonna be the dog he'd choose as his partner. I'm not saying a k9 can't do both, but it takes a special kinda dog to excel at both.

Sch III- It's pretty friggin obvious that I'm the same person. But I guess we should wonder which allias you are trolling with as it's funny I don't recall seeing your name until recently. I guess you're one of the shit starters just trying to resurect yourself as just another idiot I have no time to "play" with.

The problem with most US K9 officers is that they do not understand schutzhund and just don't get it. As mentioned before Mike Diehl, Bernhard Flinks, Gerald Groos and Horst Dieter Tragar are all policemen, K9 handlers and have had much success in schutzhund. They get it!
