Preston, the dog you mentioned is a great looking fellow,  nice proportions, although if i was picking nits, i would add another half an inch on to his wither height, but a lovely, solid and substantial boy, who looks as though he could work all day. Great looking dog.

1. Is this a coated dog?  YES, the dog on the photo is most definitely coated.

2. If so then how does the dog make KKL1 And VA2? He does not get any of these two. Whoever wrote it could have also put  that the dog has Sch 7.

Yes he is a LC a nice one,  in this forum we have some very Ignorant people who actually belive ONLY their dogs are the best, and no other dog is or can't be better then theirs.  What are they going to do or say once the LC's will be Aknowledged by the SV, BEING MORE IGNORANT?

I guess I don't see what most of  you see here. I sure don't see a Va quality dog by any stretch. but I'm not an SV judge either. Maybe if he were set up better?  Photos aren't always accurate, but his coat alone looks like it would prevent him from winning a Va rating or receiving a KKL1 at an SV show (unless he were trimmed for the event) and that was the original question.

People don't dislike coats, but for now, the SV considers it to be a disqualifing fault so people  feel they shouldn't be bred.  Why must you resort to name calling those who are only following the rules?   If the SV ever goes back to considering longstock coats a fault but not a disqualifing one, people will have no problem accepting that either.  In fact if you think about it, it would be good news for those ehtical breeders who do follow the rules - they won't have to sell those pups at as much of a discount as they do now.  Of course, most likely it will still be considered a major fault and so prudent breeders won't purposely breed for this trait.

Delacruz, I imagine IF and when coats are eligible for KKL1's and v ratings at SV shows, we will see some of them in the ring, but I'd expect that the prejudice against them will make it hard for any but the most outstanding examples to do well.  For now a coat is not eligible for a a KKL1, so one has to wonder how this dog received that rating and assume it was at a German longhair show, not an SV show.
